Zzarg Referals - Making Money on the Web (slowly)
Make money quick schemes are all the rage. Well, have you wondered why you've not got rich quick ?
It's mainly because it's a lot of nonsense.
All the hype about PTR (Paid To Read) and PTC (Paid To Click) is just that.... hype. At the end of the day when you earn .2c per click it'll take a long time to reach a minimum $10 payout won't it... especially if they only post 3 or 4 a day.... and even worse their database gets eaten by a virus when you are .4c short of a payout (it happens folks !)
As a lot of my work revolves around using the web day-in and day-out, over the years I've come across some schemes through my own research, or had others recommended to me.
Rather than keep them to myself I'm sharing them here to hopefully save you some searching, but also to make sure if you do sign-up, you go in with a sensible expectation.
With these schemes you will probably earn something, although slowly, and in many cases requiring persistance, and a varying degree of effort.... Please... don't just dive in expecting to be able to buy that new Mercedes just yet. Remember some of the plans are limited to specific countries and others are only offering payment if you meet certain criteria.
So, enough with the warnings.... Some of schemes that I have found that have benefits / rewards are;
- Although it takes a long time to make anything Mikes Paid4Email, is slow and steady and has a great reputation (possibly the best) among the PTC and PTR sites. Typically expect a return in about 8 months if you're at it most days.
- ClicksThatEarn may have a $10 payout, but at 1c per click (instead of a more typical 1/10th of a cent) you can get there fairly quickly.
- Linkburst.com has a great PTC program, although at the moment. Minimal effort involved, just a bit of time to work through the links, and the luck to get there in time for the richer pickings...
- If you want a free web mail account, then zWallet.com is the place to go. The real kicker is that you get paid to use the service (they share the ad revenue based on the number of pageviews)
- One for the Australians is EmailCash where you get paid for reading emails and filling in surveys or clicking on links. Some great auctions and 'real world' membership offers as well.
- Another PTR and PTC program is Titanic Rewards. It has a fairly low payout and a very active list and the web mistress is keen to see it go well.
- If you've some room on your desktop, Degoo have a 'surf bar' showing adverts but also giving you quick access to the major search engines and news headlines for your country, or a specific topic.
- Fancy yourself as a bit of a brainbox ? It Pays To Learn will quiz you while earning points that you can claim back against various rewards. They have free and paid accounts with different features (and depending on your account type you can even earn US$)
- The folks at the Gomez Network will pay you to include your PC in their global task of measuring website performance for paying customers. You can also earn money for referals.
- Most of these schemes require some sort of online financial system PayPal is the most popular, and even gives you $5 for signing up.
In all these cases they have shown either a direct return ($ in my hot little hand), or a continued steady progress that gives me confidence that there will be a longer term benefit is staying in the program.
What really helps for any program however is having an active downline. Some sites give you credit for signing a new user up, some pay you a percentage of their activity/earning. Either way, it's that (like in any other MLM scheme no matter what they call it) that makes it work to produce a result faster. I'll be honest.... all the above links are my way of seeing if I can grow my downline. If you sign up through it, it's worth spending a few minutes putting together a site like this to promote your downline... If you need to register a domain the folks at PlanetDomain.com have a great service, and excellent prices. If you need hosting (with a new domain, or brining your own) the folks at HostingShop are great. First class service at bargain basement prices.
A good way to get your page out there in front of a lot of people is using a banner exchange or a service such as AutoVisiting which rewards you for surfing sites they promote with visitors to your site.
That said, don't get sucked into spamming the sign-up links to everyone you know (or using one of those mail-a-million-for-$5 sites).... most have very strict policies regarding spam, and will cut you off without a dime for violating them. Always read the Terms of Use (or whatever they are called for the site) before signing up to make sure you're not agreeing to something you don't want to do. Don't sign up if you don't like what you see, or if you don't trust the site.
Oh the subject of spam.... SpamCop.net provide a great reporting capability as well as a spam-free webmail/POP3/IMAP4 account (and I don't get a cent for referring you there, just provide a great service).
Remember - before downloading anything on to your PC (or just surfing the web in general) you really want to make sure you have a good Antivirus and ideally Firewall installed on your machine.
An alternative to PTR and PTR schemes are the straight affiliate or referal programs....
A couple that have been particular good earners for me (and these first two are specifically Australia) are ChaosMusic where you can register as an affiliate and get credit for referring customers and both the local bookstore QBD but also the old faithful Amazon available worldwide.
