The Great Emperor Wu Ti
The Great Emperor Wu ti
140-87 BC
The emperor Wu Ti was the greatest emperor of the Han dynasty. He fought many great wars. He was the 6th emperor of the Han dynasty, he was only 16 when he came to the thrown. He was the emperor of China for 50 years. Wu Ti had the greatest army of his time. During his reign he developed leveling, civil service system, and the Silk Road. He set up a school that taught only Confucianism. He devoted himself to military journeys, and he stretched his empire from korea to southern Asia. His calavary was made of 50-100 thousand soldiers, no other emperor had ever made an army of this size. He was in war with the Hsiung-nu at the time, and he needed to find allies to help with this war. When he sent soldiers to explore, they found many other nations, which would lead to the Silk Road. Wu ti was so short on money, that he tried to sell his Celetial Horses for gold, but wasnt successful. Of all the horses there was one that stood out, he famous "Flying Horse" (See picture on the right), its head and tail raised high in a proudly untrammelled gallop, its fleeting touch with the earth brilliantly suggested in the one hoof borne on a flying swallow. Wu ti also extended the Great Wall, and built the corridor with it. After so many taxes and prices rising, the peasants revolt. Everything becomes controlled later on, but Wu ti dies soon after. We couldnt find how Wu ti died anywhere, so we came to the conclusion that he died naturally.
