WITCH HUNTERS TIP LIST
Heroes
Heroes are good with crossbows especially with Nimble or Quickshot skills.
Always make sure the Priest prays, take advantage of the good prayers.
The Witch Hunter Captain can make a great sniper due to his high BS, he is good with the Nimble, Hunch, and Tactician skills.
Have Witch Hunters and Captain to mop up remaining foes.
Have heroes smack knocked down or stunned opponents, the hero will get XP.
Protect your heroes, keep Flagellants or Warhounds in front of them to take charges.
The warrior priest is good for prayers and can wear armor which is a big plus.
Henchmen
Flails are good on Flagellants, but 2 Handers are better with the Strongman skill.
Keep Flagellants in front of Heroes to protect them, and then have heroes countercharge. When Flagellant becomes a hero give him strength and speed skills. Put Flagellants in front of heroes so Heroes aren’t attacked.
Send Flagellants in with Warrior Priest to attack first.
Always remember Flagellants always pass LD tests.
A Flagellant with 2 swords, light armor, and helmet and pistol is great. (this would be great if it was even legal, Flagellants can't have swords, armor, helmets or pistols.)
Warhounds are great in the beginning and good later.
Warhounds are excellent for their price and are better than a lot of heroes.
Use Warhounds to annoy opponents and cause problems.
After your warband progresses try to focus on Zealots more than Warhounds however.
Warhounds can make a good replacement warrior when money is tight.
Zealots mainly suck at the beginning but with time can become better.
Zealots aren’t to good at shooting at the start (Hits on 5+)
Equipment
Expensive gear isn’t always best, but special equipment can be a big plus.
Armor is not very effective, but can be in the right situations.
Hammers are better than axes usually because they are cheaper and stun easier.
Don’t buy Morning Stars unless you want a shield with it.
Take flails if you don’t want to be charged because your model can fight back well.
If you can, try to get Gromril weapons for heroes when your opponent has lots of armor.
Braziers are pretty good for CC. Get the brazier iron early. It can cause hits in recovery phase.
Get the hammer of witches if you fight warbands it is useful agains.
Avoid 2 handed weapons until a model has Strongman.
Take 2 Handers if you want to be charged, and you may get to kill the model back.
Pistols have dual uses as a brace can be fired at range, and can be used in CC.
The reason to give pistols to heroes is only heroes gain skills to make them even better.
A sword or hammer may be better than a pistol, but not if the hero is skilled.
Hired Swords
Use hired swords to offset a weakness because they can add needed strength to the band.
An Elf Ranger helps get money by exploring after the game, and is good at shooting.
A dwarf (strong) or halfling (cookbook) is a good hired sword.
