1. STARFOX ADVENTURES:

10/08/02:

HANDS-ON FIRST 30% OF THE GAME:

THIS IS A GREAT GAME! It is one of the- , maybe THE best RPG i've ever played. I am about 30% through the game, and it has taken me about 7 hours. So it will be a fairly long game. Some website (i don't remember where) claimed it would be 90 hours long. But i doubt that. I think it will be in the 25-35 hour range.

Anyways, it is a very fun game. At first, it's just a little boring -- JUST A LITTLE. Not to the extent that you want to stop playing it, of course. But, it gets better as you go on, because you learn everything about the game and how it works.

I actually needed to use a little help for the first boss, because it was such a unique boss, and i had never seen anything even partially resembling it before in any other game. That boss would seem easy to me now, but it will take some thinking (and a little bit of luck) to figure it out.

-I'll be sure to put a lot more details into the review that I'll write when i beat it. And i'll try not to spoil anything (no BIG spoilers, at least!).

MORE SOON!

10/09/02:

I am now at 35%, and at about 9 hours. The game is starting to become more difficult, with enemies EVERYWHERE. Yup, they're popping up all over the place!

If anything more substantial happens, I will put it on the site!

And of course, i'll have a full review when I beat it!

11/17/02:

I BEAT THE GAME!!!

The only thing i have to say is that it continues to get harder the more you go along in the game. It went by a little quicker than I had predicted (25-30 hrs). It actually took me about 22 hours.

Actually the only things that would keep me from giving this game a perfect score in my review (which i'll try to do this week) is...

A. the fact that if you tell your friends you beat the end boss, you will have no proof because it doesnt save that data. In otherwords, you beat the game when you get to 99%. You don't need to beat the boss, unless you want to see how the planet is saved.

B. You cant go back to ANY levels once you "reveal" the end boss.

REVIEW SOON!!

2/10/03:

I WILL DO THE REVIEW WHENEVER I HAVE SPARE TIME THIS WEEK! STAY TUNED!

4/28/03:

REFERRING TO 2/10/03 ^:

Sorry that never happened, but I DO have a life, you know!

2. ANIMAL CROSSING

10/09/02:

OVERVIEW/BASIC IDEA

I've now not played this game for 4 days straight! Its not that it's a bad game, its just that i've been addicted to starfox lately! But animal crossing is really is an EXCELLENT game. I have played it for two weeks straight before now, and now i feel like going back to it! IT IS PROBABLY THE MOST ADDICTIVE GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED! Most games are addictive only until you beat them, or until you get so stuck you don't feel like playing them anymore. This game is just the opposite, though. It is always addictive. I somehow survived without playing it for 4 days and now i REALLY want to play this game again.

This game is definantly in the "other" category, no game like it has ever been made before. It has been called a "communication game" almost everywhere, so I guess it is starting it's own category.

Some of the unique features:

- GBA connectability (go out to an island)
- E-Reader communication (download NES games off of cards)
- Live a "second life"
- travel to other towns (by putting a memory card in both slots)

I will have a full review when i get the GCN-GBA link cable and/or the E-reader (i'm asking for this as a cristmas gift).

10/12/02:

Yep, i've been playing animal crossing again the past few days, and:

I found out you can give and get codes to give to other people and get the item using the code, so i thought i'd try it. Wait, before i say that, i got a code for the SOCCER NES game off of the official website, and i gave the code to Tom Nook(shopkeeper) and after I enter it he gives it to me and says "Oh, so you entered a contest, eh?. Heres your SOCCER!"

Isnt that cool!?

So then i thought i'd test how well they actually executed the idea. I got codes from other people that traded on a message board, and i thought that i could get someone else's items that they traded to another person (not to me) by using that code.

But, it turns out that I couldnt! I gave the code to Tom nook, and he says something like, "WHAT! Are you trying to steal someone else's items by using their code!? You cant do that!!!"

I'm not even going to ask how that works, though it could be because of the fact that you have to give your name and town name to him to get your code for an item.

Anyways, that is yet another VERY NICE feature to add even more to the game's realism.

MORE SOON!

4/28/03:

Well, this game got boring about 3 months ago or so, in fact, I completely forgot about it until now. Really after I got my house fully paid off and upgraded, I felt no reason to go on with my "fake" life. I came back to reality and then I started to play my ZELDA:OCARINA OF TIME Bonus Disk, then I got ZELDA: WIND WAKER and beat it, then got burnout 2 and beat it. But that's way off topic. Anyways, I am only not selling this game this week because of the collectable NES games you can put in your house. I have 10 and 9 of them are very awesome and addictive, I will list them in a review.

REVIEW COMING SOON! (hopefully)

4. METROID PRIME

BEGINNING IMPRESSIONS:

I've been playing metroid prime a little today, and it's even better than I had expected.

It took me 40 minutes to get through 2% of the game, and I've encountered 2 mini-bosses already. So its going to be a long game. And thats a good thing! It's pretty hard, but not impossible.

Oh, and if you've beat this game and/or Metroid Fusion for Game Boy Advance, and you link them with a link cable, you can unlock a special suit, and even the original Metroid game!

I'LL HAVE A REVIEW WHEN I BEAT IT! (I'll beat it eventually, I'm sure)

12/01/02:

PROGRESS UPDATE:

This is one of the hardest 3-D games I've ever played. Its hard, but not impossible. It just requires A LOT of thinking.

% DONE: 22%
DIFFICULTY: MODERATE-VERY HARD (BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE)
MINI-BOSSES: ABOUT 7
AREA BOSSES(BIG): ONE

1 - HUGE SNAKE-LIKE THING - "Flaagra"

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF WHAT I JUST COMPLETED:
I looked around and saw two other doors I could jump to. One was a SAVE ROOM*, and the other was where I was supposed to go. I want through what seemed like a million rooms, doing easy things at first, but then it got harder. I had to go the whole way through a long chain of rooms and back, and beat the enemies both ways through! It took about % tries before I finally did it! I got a thermal (heat) visor halfway through that part. And, I saw the first METROIDS in METROID PRIME!

*SAVE ROOMS- The only places you can save in this game.

2/10/03:

PROGRESS UPDATE:

I haven't played at all between 12/01/02 and just a few days ago. But, I woke up early Saturday morning, and had the sudden urge to play it. So, I did, and beat this huge boss, and more.

% DONE: 31
DIFFICULTY: MODERATE (EXCEPT FOR THE RECENT BOSS)
MINI-BOSSES: ABOUT 11
AREA BOSSES(BIG): 2

1 - HUGE SNAKE-LIKE THING - "Flaagra"
2 - ROCK MONSTER (GIANT BUNCH OF ROCKS SHAPED LIKE A PERSON) - "Thardus"

The Rock Monster was REALLY HARD. I had to use the wave beam at certain highlighted points of the monster and keep switching between the THERMAL (heat) and REGULAR visors (types of vision). His attacks were:

1 - Throwing ice and freezing me temporarily
2 - Curling into a ball and trying to roll on me
3 - Throwing rocks at me
4 - Later, he made it too bright to see without the thermal visor

My responses:

1 - press B or A buton to escape
2 - press X and then use B to use boost ball
3 - shoot the rocks he throws
4 - use thermal visor AMAP (as much as possible)

MORE SOON!

03/24/03:

PROGRESS UPDATE:

I haven't played it for a while again and I got a lot farther and then I got stuck on a mini-boss (and I mean COMPLETELY STUCK). So, I looked it up on the Internet and it turns out I needed a "Wave Blaster" (Wave Beam and Missles Combo) or I had to shoot at it WHILE it was shooting at me. Even after I did that it took me a few tries because I went in the wrong door (instead of the save station) and then I died. Now that I have been to almost every area in the game it can take up to half an hour to get from place to place! I also have 5 total CHOZO ARTIFACTS (12 in all) and my RESEARCH ENTRIES (*from scanning stuff) is about 60% complete. NOW TO THE STATS.

% DONE: 44
DIFFICULTY: MODERATELY HARD
MINI-BOSSES: ABOUT 13
AREA BOSSES: 2 (STILL)

1 - HUGE SNAKE-LIKE THING - "Flaagra"
2 - ROCK MONSTER (GIANT BUNCH OF ROCKS SHAPED LIKE A PERSON) - "Thardus"

MORE UPDATES SOON! (unless I get stuck again, it is a pretty hard game... well it has hard bosses anyways...)

4/28/03:

I got to the END BOSS about 3 weeks ago and haven't been able to beat him! He's VERY VERY HARD, and ironically his name is... METROID PRIME! (d'oh!) This is the first and only game I have played that the end boss has the same name as the title! ANYWAYS, THE STATS:

% DONE: 70 (at end boss, I can't believe how many upgrades I must have missed!)
DIFFICULTY: MODERATELY HARD - VERY VERY HARD
MINI-BOSSES: ABOUT 20 (not counting repeating ones*)

*REPEATING MINI-BOSSES- such as CHOZO GHOSTS, after the mini-boss appears the first time, it always appears EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU WALK INTO THE ROOM. It starts to become annoying because after the first time it becomes an optional battle and the enemies always get in the way unless you defeat them over and over and over... and it keeps on going and going and going...(Energizer Battery reference). It becomes a real pain.

AREA BOSSES: 4 (unless I'm forgetting one - email me if you know)

1 - HUGE SNAKE-LIKE THING - "Flaagra"
2 - ROCK MONSTER (GIANT BUNCH OF ROCKS SHAPED LIKE A PERSON) - "Thardus"
3 - HUGE SPACE PIRATE (HIGHLY SHIELDED MONSTER THAT IS ONLY VULNERABLE TO MISSLE-BEAM COMBOS) - "Omega Pirate"
4 - HUGE FLYING BIRD (As far as I know, He's been in EVERY METROID GAME IN THE PAST [with slightly altered names]!) - "Meta Ridley"

And that bring us (me) to the end; go up through a room full of FISSION METROIDS; they randomly split up into 2 Metroids, and can only be killed with a certain weapon. Then past an optional MISSLE RECHARGE ROOM (pointless, fission Metroids can't be killed with missles as far as I know) and through a weird and boring room to the end boss. All I will tell about the end boss is that he keeps swithching colors that correspond with a beam weapon and he is super-strong and fast (and hard, duh).

HOPEFULLY REVIEW SOON!
