WILLIE'S STORY

YOUR HELP IS URGENTLY NEEDED

For the past eight months, we have been telling Willie's Story to everyone who will listen. If you haven't heard his story, you'll find a link to the original website at the bottom of this page.

To make a long story short, we have been providing a home for 30 some stray cats for several years. There has never been any problems or complaints from our neighbors as all the cats are kept in our home or in their fully enclosed exercise pen. Unfortunately, the township received a call from one disturbed young lady back in November of 2003 and told us that the animals had to go.

Since that time we have tried everything to try to resolve the issue and keep our "kids". We contacted Channel 2 Problem Solvers in Detroit who did a story on us and our animals. In an interview with them, our township supervisor stated that all we had to do was get a kennel permit and we could "have as many cats as we wanted".

When we attempted to get this permit, we were told by the planning commission that they could not grant it because of our zoning. Shortly after that, our attorney spoke to the planning commissioner on several occasions and it was inferred that the township would consider rezoning our area. Currently it is zoned as a subdivision which is really absurd as nearly everyone in our area has between 2 1/2 and 5 acres. Once again, this has turned out be be an empty promise and the planning commission and one of the trustees is pushing to have the ordinance enforced.

We are now faced with a choice...either give up our "kids" or give up our home. Needless to say, this is an easy contest. WE HAVE TO GET OUT OF HURON TOWNSHIP ASAP!!!

Just one problem. Before we can sell our home, we have to have another home to move to. The only local area that will welcome us and our "kids" is Sumpter Township so that is where we are trying to move to. In order to get the money to make a downpayment on a new home, we have to sell our current home. We're trapped.

Please, if there is anyone out there who is able to lend us enough to make a downpayment on a new home please call Jerry or Bobbi at 734-782-2826. You will be repaid in full as soon as we sell our current house. If anyone out there works for mortgage company who could help us with a zero-down mortgage, let us hear from you. If there is anyone in Sumpter Township, MI who is looking to sell their home and thinks they could work with us, please call us as soon as possible.

Please pass this plea for help to any and all animal lovers you may know. Be sure to have them read "Willie's Story".

Thank you for your time and may God Bless.
Jerry and Bobbi Ballantyne
