WHAT IS PICKWICK NIGHT?
The event is held annually, this year we are celebrating the 21st year of Pickwick on Thursday 3rd December 2009, between 6pm and 9pm.
Whalley has an annual Dickens of a good time as it soaks up the sights and sounds of a Victorian Christmas during a mammoth festive street fair with a Victorian theme.
The place is transported to the 19th century for the annual Pickwick Night.
Brass bands, steam organs, fire-eaters, jugglers and school choirs have all been part of the line-up in previous years.
The event is officially started at 6pm when a famous guest officially opens the nights events and entertainment.
The local shops stay open until 9pm, with staff dressed in Victorian-style dress as they sell Yuletide gifts.
The event is sponsored by a number of local and national companies. The aim of the event is to raise thousands of pounds for local charities.
SO COME AND EXPERIENCE THE ATMOSPHERE YOURSELF AT WHALLEY ON DECEMBER 3RD 2009.
