Main Feature:
Well, this is the first of three (thus far) Now DVD's, absed on the compilation series. It was released at the end of 2001, and contains 16 promo videos from 16 of the year's most popular songs.
The choice of songs could be better, but it's actually a pretty good collection of the year's best. All tastes are catered for - pop with Steps, S Club 7 and Britney Spears; hip hop with Nelly; r'n'b with Blue; dance with Fragma.. there's a wide variety. They did a nice job collecting so many different types of music.
The videos themselves aren't too bad either. The highlight is Gorillaz' "Clint Eastwood", an excellent animation, but Nelly, Geri and Robbie Williams also provide high-quality promo videos. Overall, a good collection.
Complete track listing:
Geri Halliwell - It's Raining Men
S Club 7 - Don't Stop Moving
Blue - All Rise
Atomic Kitten - Whole Again
Hear'say - Pure And Simple
Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood
Gabrielle - Out Of Reach
Fragma - You Are Alive
Coldplay - Don't Panic
Ronan Keating - Lovin' Each Day
Nelly - Ride With Me
Britney Spears - Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know
Steps - Here And Now
Emma Bunton - What Took You So Long?
Robbie Williams - Supreme
Victoria Beckham - Not Such An Innocent Girl
7/10
Audio:
Rubbish for a music release - stereo! Clear enough, but music releases *need* DTS or 5.1. Poor show. 3/10
Video:
4:3 standard. Nice and clear, no real imperfections apart from the odd compression bug. 8/10
Price:
You should be able to get this for a fiver by now. 6/10
Extras:
Quite a good selection. There's behind the scenes footage for six videos, including Geri, Robbie, Victoria, Ronan, Emma Bunton and Blue; galleries for Gorillaz, Atomic Kitten, S Club 7, Steps, Gabrielle, Nelly and Hear'Say; and a competition (though that's now 2 years out of date). Fair collection. 6/10
Packaging:
A weird plastic case that's nothing liek any other disc.. pretty good though. 7/10
Overall:
A good collection, fair extras, poor presentation. 56%
Family-Friendly Rating:
All, it's just a music release.
