KISS
Guide to Astrology

by Julia Parker, Derek Parker

Foreword by Eric Francis

Simple, easy beginning Western Astrology
book. This explains how to construct and interpret a basic natal
chart. No previous knowledge of any esoteric subject is necessary.
Most books do presuppose some kind of fluency. All possible aspect
combinations are discussed and simply explained. After reading this
book you should be able to draw up your own chart and roughly interpret
it.

The
Complete Astrological Handbook for the Twenty-first Century

Understanding and Combining the
Wisdom of Chinese, Tibetan, Vedic, Arabian, Judaic, and Western Astrology

by Anistatia R. Miller and Jared
M. Brown

This book appears more like an introductory
textbook and/or cherished reference book. Chinese, Vedic and Western
Astrology are covered thoroughly enough to me. I would have liked
to have seen more information on the Arabic, Judaic and Tibetan branches.
This is much more than an introduction though. Much information is
summarized here. Only after reading a couple of introductory books
on each branch could you enjoy that particular chapter relating to the
branch. Beginner accessible but it would be difficult to draw a natal
chart for the first time based on this information. Many charts and
real life examples to make it much easier to understand. This does
help you to understand the different systems of thought to interpretation.

Astrology
for Initiates : Astrological Secrets of the Western Mystery Tradition

by Papus, J. Lee Lehman (Translator)

Interesting to note if you like the
online book on this site (The Science of the Soul and the Stars by Thomas
Burgoyne) you should take a look at this. He was Papus' mentor and
borrowed parts of the book. This book was written over 100
years ago and was translated from French. Given this you get a unique
perspective. This is a valuable reference book. It may not
be appreciated by a beginner. Authors of this time tended toward
explaining the inner workings of astrological divination (using esoteric
mysteries) than actual divination techniques (such as a natal chart or
horoscope).

Karma
Cards : A New Age Guide to Your Future Through Astrology

by Monte Farber

illustrations Amy Zerner

Recommended for the beginner who
wants to learn quickly. This is a book and card set. The book
is small but filled with valuable information. Explanation of planets,
houses and signs. The cards are pretty (art is subjective).
Some people learn more quickly with pictures and symbols. This set
has that. Accurate results but quite powerful if used with ordinary
tarot. Purpose is to do astrological horoscopes (divination) using
cards and not chart the position of the planets.

An
Astrological Guide to Self-Awareness

by Donna Cunningham

Nice introduction to chart interpretation
and transits. Can be a good first time book because real life examples
help you remember. Focus on personal empowerment. The individual
being responsible for their choices. Positive thinking, positive
choices equals positive life circumstance. Gives some information
on how the negatives in your natal chart can be worked on to produce positive
outcome. Advanced audiences should notice nuances beginners will
not. An excellent addition to your collection.

The
Astrology Encyclopedia

by James R. Lewis

A fundamental reference with an emphasis
on Natal Astrology. A concise reference of Natal Chart and Horoscope
in traditional Western Astrology. Even though it is an encyclopedia
you can read it like you would an introductory text. Fine artwork
inside. Many specialized areas of Astrology are clearly defined.
For instance: What mundane astrology is? or What horary astrology
is? A good book for quick but clear definitions.

Astrology,
Karma & Transformation : The Inner Dimensions of the Birth Chart

by Stephen Arroyo

If you have an interest in Spiritual
Astrology then you should read this. Only after you have read the
KISS book above and have your natal interpretation with you. Basic
astrological knowledge is required to comprehend fully. Karma in
your chart is explained. Positive attainment of goals is the general
environment of the writer. Points out how to use astrology for personal
enlightenment and spiritual growth. Not only personal emphasis, relationships
are also discussed.
