WCS/LES FAST TRACK
Both WCS (Waste Control Specialists located 100 yards across the TEX/NM state line 3 miles east of Eunice, NM) & LES (which is in the process of obtaining a license to build a uranium enrichment facility on the New Mexico side of the TX/NM state line 3 miles east of Eunice, NM) have license applications in the works which are on the FAST TRACK. If all goes well for WCS & LES, by the Summer of 2006 everything will be in place to begin the creation of the WCS/LES Nuclear Complex.
In October 2004, Texas State Senator Robert Duncan (R-Lubbock)wrote a leeter to the Texas Department of State Health Services requesting that the WCS application for permits and liceses to store 153.6 million pounds of nuclear waste, including the DUF6 waste from LES, should be delayed to give legislators and the general public time to find out and understand what the consequences will be of this massive amount of nuclear waste storage 2 miles east of Eunice. The Texas State Health Agency said that no delay will be allowed in the review of the WCS application to exapnd the amount of radioactive waste that be stored by WCS.
Sen. Duncan said that the radioactive nuclear waste that WCS wants to store permanently is considerably more raioactive and has a longer half-life than low-level radioactive waste.
There are important disuptes going on which the public and the government needs time to evaluate and respond to but it is apparent that the national and international powers that be have everything going their way and that the WCS/LES Nuclear Complex will go ahead as scheduled.
