Rat Terrier Breed Information

These small to medium sized, smooth coated Terriers are muscular and medium boned. Bred primarily for farm and ranch dogs to hunt, protect and guard against vermin and varmints, Rat Terriers have strong jaws and are known for their quick, agile movements, which enable them to kill rats and other vermin and small game.

Rat Terriers are a playful, happy-go-lucky breed, devoted companions that are also protective. They are an efficient, intuitive hunter as well as an energetic and intelligent companion, at home in the city or country.

We are dedicated and wish to improve the overall quality of the Rat Terriers that are produced here at Gray Knob Kennels. We firmly believe that if you are going to do any breeding, that you should "do it right", or not at all! If you're looking for a loving companion that is loyal, intelligent, and easy to train, then look no further.

Rat Terriers are all of this and much much more. The Rat Terrier gets along well with children, other dogs, and even cats. The Rat Terrier is playful and energetic, but much lower keyed than the Jack Russell. They are genetically sound and enjoy a long life span of up to 18 years.
