Good Luck to all contestants in the $1,000,000 GREAT GIVEAWAY FOOTBALL CONTEST hosted by Station Casinos.
This seems to be the most popular football contest open to the public in Las Vegas. Boasting $30,000 in cash every week for the most winners. In addition; $5,000 in cash every week for the most losers.
Easy Right? Not hardly, even without a point spread this is really difficult against thousands of others with pencils and papers and computer statistics and other helpful resources.

Sunday, June 16th I was on the beautiful Las Vegas "Strip" along with company from Idaho participating in the regular tourist attractions we walked along the west side of the street traveling north to film the mega-resorts. We started from the Monte Carlo then to the Bellagio to see the famous fountain display a water show that is really spectacular. We snapped photos and proceeded to Caesar's Palace watching all the beautiful scenery viewed in counless movies. Next, was the Mirage the Volcano eruption and the inside of the casino with the marble floor and casino with the terrarium setting not to mention Danny Gans and Sigfried & Roy. Finally, we were going to watch the pirate show in front of Treasure Island and noticed a total of 4 female tourist whom had passed out or were suffering from the extreme heat most were dehydrated. I think Treasure Island (TI) and Mirage should offer water sales or provide liquid refreshment to visitors. This happened at around 10:00 PM, imagine the results in the daytime by unsuspecting tourists. I hope TI or Mirage will vend liquid refreshments to the tourists. Funny that this was never in the news??? Hmmm.

RIO's Price Is Right Ticket Giveaway Unsafe

Today January 17, 2002 at the RIO Samba Theater Entrance area located inside the Rio, tickets
were supposed to be given away for taping of The Price Is Right game show's 30th anniversary.
This RIO promotion proved to be unsafe. According to the CBS official The Price Is Right website
regarding the Las Vegas taping, it states as follows:
"Get Your Ticket!
Beginning at 10:00AM on Thursday, January 17, 2002 at the Rio Samba Theatre entrance, the first 900 people in line will each receive one ticket, plus a detailed sheet of information. Please note that the show will distribute only one ticket per person on a first come, first served basis, beginning at 10:00AM".
Many of us people there were just hoping for an opportunity to see the live taping or even be a contestant on TPIR.
Reports of people waiting 20+ hours, just to have a chance at the 900 available tickets. Many further up in the line stating there was over 4,000 people here and only a few would get tickets. A Las Vegas Metro Officer outside among 60+ arriving in 23 police cars (that I seen) and 2 Metro bicycle (at approx. 7:15 AM) said " there are no more tickets available ", and said a Rio security officer had prematurely let the anxious crowd into the distribution a room.
A lot of people then left mad and disappointed. The biggest and most numerous complaint was that the Rio was not supposed to be giving away tickets until 10:00 AM. The other common comment heard was that the Rio seemed to have saved or allotted 600 tickets exclusively for VIPs. I was told these people had a special wrist band ID.
This information was never disclosed to anyone before today. I was grouped with others listening near a KVBC
Channel 3 newsman (John) who was interviewing people. I heard reports of 2 woman taken out on stretchers that were also in line. Other hostilities were reported with injuries and hostile action by Metro and Rio security.
It was apparent that this promotion was handled CARELESSLY and UNPROFESSIONALLY and has implications of negligence of security by the Rio which is part of the Harrah's Entertainment Inc.
Rod Roddy, Bob Barker's sidekick/announcer for 16 years and being driven in a Ford Expedition with a Rio Secco Logo attempted to approach the Samba entrance side around 7:30 AM. Fans started approaching the vehicle and shouting out Hi to Rod but, others were yelling negative comments and hand gestures which compelled the vehicle's driver to depart and avoid the negative issues about them. This will be on the news, since all the local news crews were there. Lets hope this will be a learning experience of what not to do and learn some professionalism.
In most major cities that have an event which could draw an excessive amount of people, they have a mail-for-tickets plan or a lottery of some sort which is much safer and works well ... Rio are you listening?
