Papa John & The Hardware Cafe

We would like to dedicate this page to a very dear friend who helped to inspire the Union Coffeehouse.

John Sares, who invited everyone into his "living room" at the old Hardware Cafe in Marion, unfortunately for us, has moved on and out of the State...California to be exact. John and his lovely wife Susan moved out West to be with their Daughter Holly and their beautiful grandchildren. Well, some things have changed, Holly and her children moved agian, but John & Susan had developed roots in the community and have stayed in California. This has been a very positive move for them, although we miss them intensely.

For many many years...more than we care to admit...many wonderful memories were made around kitchen tables, at birthday parties, holidays and countless bars with guitars, voices, pasta, pizza, kids, extended families, friends, dogs and yes even ponies.

When the Union Coffeehouse came into the picture, John & Susan donated equipment from the Hardware cafe including our commercial coffee maker, bean grinders, air pots, even the bar stools for the entertainers, to name just a few things. John also donated a great deal of time to the coffeehouse including entertaining, showing us the ins and outs of seeking out quality entertainment, including introducing us to press kits! So much to learn, so little time.

John and Susan, we LOVE you and MISS you both!! We wish you only the greatest that life has to offer you and your family in this new life. Thank you for all you are to us. Love you 611
