This site is dedicated to the longest running sci-fi television show in history, Doctor Who. Doctor Who is probably the most sought after part in British T.V. I will only be covering the first eight incarnations with this site.
First there was William Hartnell (1963-1966). William was the first Doctor...a trite,cunning, and often stubborn old man, sadly...William passed away in 1975...just one year after Tom Baker became Doctor Who's forth regeneration.
Second...came Patrick Troughton (1966-1969) Patrick portrayed the Doctor as kind of an imbecile...but under that demure exterior was a genius and a true friend to all who traveled with him. Sadly Patrick has also passed away he died in 1987.
Thirdly...there was Jon Pertwee (1969-1974) Jon was already famous for his work in the radio drama the Navy Lark.
Jon's Doctor was flamboyant and stubborn...much like William Hartnell. (in my opinion). Jon passed away in 1996 not long after filming the special Dimensions in Time.
Fourth comes Tom Baker (1974-1981) Tom portrayed the Doctor for the second longest period of time, seven years. Tom's Doctor was famous for his bright blue eyes, mile-long scarf and floppy hat. Tom is still alive and celebrated his 68th birthday this passed January.
Fifth came Peter Davison (1981-1984) In my opinion Peter's Doctor was the most human...Occasionaly getting things wrong. Peter too is still alive having turned 51 last April.
The sixth Doctor...Colin Baker..(1984-1986) Colin and Tom Baker are not related...It took four people to convince me of that. Colin...like Tom and Peter is still alive...having turned 59 in June.
Sylvester McCoy comes next (1987-1996) Sylvester not only portrayed the Doctor on BBC television but also in the 1996 Fox T.V. movie The Enemy within. Sylvester turned 59 in August.
And last but not least is Paul McGann (1996-) Paul is my personal favorite simply because he is probably the most believable..He is brutally honest..(Like in the made-for-t.v. movie in which he tells a compelete stranger "I'm half human...on my Mother's side.").
