Love

Love won’t protect us from the evil all around
It won’t protect our children from the dangers that abound

Love doesn’t guarantee a life of happy endings
Or that when given it will be returned
We want love to make us happy to fill the void within
To keep out hearts from hurting bring loneliness to an end

But love isn’t an umbrella, it’s not a protective sphere
It isn’t a magnet to bring those we love near
Love intensifies our pain when we loose someone dear
It leaves us empty and hollow when evil strikes too near

And yet it heals the broken hearted
Brings laughter to the soul
When everything in life goes wrong
Love can make you whole
