The story of Finch's beginnings is a testament to the persistence of one of its guitarists, Randy Strohmeyer, who has long been a true fan of the Drive-Thru label. Before Finch was even a gleam in a musician's eye, he was penning fan mail and shooting it off to Drive-Thru. Later he tried to promote interest from the label in a few groups he belonged to
Starting Line

Styles: Emo, Punk-Pop, Punk Revival
Roots: Jawbreaker, The Get Up Kids, A New Found Glory, Midtown

Pennsylvanian punk-poppers The Starting Line originally came together in 1999 via version 2.0 of the old "vocalist wanted" flyer hanging at the local record store. Guitarist Matt Watts had a band called Sunday Drive. After seeing Ken Vasoli's AOL profile, he invited him to jam with his band.

In high school, they hooked up with guitarist Jeremiah Rangel and drummer Nick Gigler
The Ataris
Styles: Punk-Pop, Alternative Pop/Rock
Biography: Learn more about this music group.
Roots: Mu330, Buck-O-Nine
Similar Artists: No Doubt, Ash, Shades Apart, Switchfoot, Impossibles, The Checkered Cabs
The Ataris have produced three full-length recordings of relatively cookie-cutter pop-punk. Taking more influence from mainstream alternative acts than the punk artists they tour with, the Ataris were discovered by Vandals founder Joe Escalante in early 1997
Green Day
Formed: 1988 In: Berkeley, CA
Styles: Punk-Pop, Post-Grunge, Punk Revival
Roots: Buzzcocks, Cheap Trick, The Clash, The Jam, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols
Similar Artists: Nirvana, The Rezillos, Sham 69, Stiff Little Fingers, Operation Ivy, Screeching Weasel, The Adverts, The Offspring
Out of all the post-Nirvana American alternative bands to break into the pop mainstream, Green Day was second only to Pearl Jam in terms of influence. At their core, Green Day were simply punk revivalists, recharging the energy of speedy, catchy three-chord punk-pop songs. Though their music wasn't particularly innovative, they brought the sound of rock to a new level.
The Ramones
Formed: 1974 In: New York, NY
Styles: Punk, Girl Group, College Rock
Roots: The Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, Alice Cooper, The New York Dolls.
Similar Artists: Black Flag, Blondie, Buzzcocks, The Clash, The Damned, Mink DeVille, The Dictators, Richard Hell
The Ramones are the first punk rock band. Other bands, such as the Stooges and the New York Dolls, came before them and set the stage and aesthetic for punk, and bands that immediately followed, such as the Sex Pistols, made the latent violence of the music more explicit, but the Ramones crystallized the musical ideals of the genre. By cutting rock & roll down to its bare essentials -- four chords; a simple, catchy melody; and irresistibly inane lyrics -- and speeding up the tempo considerably, the Ramones created something that was rooted in early '60s, pre-Beatles rock & roll and pop but sounded revolutionary.
