Harbour Authority
The harbour is managed by a volunteer "Harbour Authority" that operates under the direction of Small Crafts Harbours division of DFO. A new wharf was constructed in 1997/1998 and the facilities are constantly being upgraded. In 2008 two floating docks were completed, providing an additional 220 ft of docking space.
In April 2008 the Harbour Authority also secured funding to extend the freezer in the "Baited Trawl Unit" and install vinyl siding on the building. Thank you to the volunteers who provided the labour.
In December 2008 we were successful in securing funding from DFA and Small Crafts Harbours to construct washroom facilities. Small Crafts Harbours will fund a building to house the washrooms and DFA will provide funding to install chemical toilets and handwash stations.
The fishermen are members of Independent Fish Harvester's Inc. and are shareholders in their own fish plant located in Brigus. Coley's Fisheries handles the offloading and shipment of product under contract with IFH.
