Tribal Members,
Inepo Catalina M Torres tea. I was born in Tucson, Arizona raised in the City of South Tucson, Barrio Libre. I have been married for 30 years to my husband, Arthur S. Torres Jr. He is a retiree of the City of Tucson. We have two children, both raised in Tucson. Our son, the late Alex M. Torres, Cholla High School graduate, and former employee of Casino of the Sun. Our daughter, Katrina M Torres, Cholla High School graduate, Sol Casinos Casino Host and attends the Art Center Design College. We also have one grandson, Elliot A. Torres, 2 yrs old.
My parents were the late Manuel T. Morales and the late Maria De La Luz Molina. I am the tenth born of their 14 children. My paternal grandparents were the late Angel T. Morales and the late Martina Tautimer, resided in Guadalupe. My Maternal grandparents were the late Perfecto G. Molina and the late Isabel Alvarez Molina, resided in Tucson. My up bringing was knowing our Hiaki culture and traditions. Respect everyone and communicate. As my mother said to me, “Ablando se entiende la jente.”
Prior to working for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, I worked for TUSD, as a indoor and outdoor monitor. I then became a Bilingual Teacher's Assistant for third through sixth grade. I also assisted the school nurse, librarian, and streamlined with special education students. In 1988 began working part time for Pascua Yaqui Tribe as a Health Transportation driver. In 1989 I became full time in the Health Department. I have worked many programs within the Health Department. I am grateful for the diverse experiences and knowledge.
I worked for the Health Department as a Community out reach worker which gave me the honor and pleasure of serving our people of all the Hiaki Communities: New Pascua, Barrio Libre, Yoem Pueblo, Guadalupe, Coolidge, Eloy, High Town, Old Pascua, Yuma, Fresno, also our Yoemem from Sonora Vicam Pueblo, Bacum, Potam, Benem, Pitaya,Huivisim, Rahum, Torim Cd.Obregon, Hermosillo, Loma De Huamuchil, Cocoim, Guasimas. This was the highlight of my job. I am a member,and volunteer of the American Legion Women's Auxilary. I served as President 2005, 2006. I am currently Secretary/Treasurer for The Women's Auxilary Unit of Yoem Post 125. I recently joined the Advisory Board of the Community Library and Resource Center of the Education Division.
Today I continue working for all our Tribal Members and Hiakim Communities in the Enrollment Department. My services are of a different perspective. I continue to hear your voice, your concerns and issues. I know if I am Elected as your Representative for Pascua Yaqui Tribal Council I will do the best of my abilities to serve and represent You the People. Human Resources - Economic development - Supporting Tribal Employees - Education: Continue to Encourage Youth to attend College and Career Trainings - Housing - Casino Enterprises - Procurement - Health Care Services - Elderly Center - Wellness Center Progress - All Community Enhancements
