Subject:Dallas Cowboys Date:10-27-2008 Title: On The Defensive
How about them Cowboys? The offense played terrible, in their first 3 drives they gained an outstanding total of 11 YARDS! And also went 3 and out on every one of those drives. But lucky for the offense, the defense came out looking like that number one defense Brian Stewart predicted it would be (they aren't the number one defense, but Stewart thought they'd be) at the beginning of the year. Brad Johnson took the safe approach, which at times was questioned by the media and fans, many of which booed Johnson when he did play it safe with a little check down pass on a third and long. Marion Barber hit the holes with much more speed and determination, especially after Marc Columbo heated things up with his physical play and leadership throughout the course of the game. Johnson's only touchdown came on a two yard pass to new comer Roy Williams (Longhorns) over Tampa Bay's Phillip Buchanon. The defense played phenomenal and deserve all the credit in the world for yesterday's win. Wade Phillips defense didn't allow a touchdown, which also held Tampa Bay to 172 total yards of offense, the smallest amount ever allowed by a Cowboys team in a win. Phillips mixed up the looks and proved that he should have been the one calling the defensive plays all along. Analysts say the Cowboys aren't going to be able to beat the defending Super Bowl Champion Giants with just 13 points. And they're right, they won't win without Romo behind center but that's away, and the Cowboys deserve to take this win in and not think about the Giants until Wednesday. Because, as many people can say this win was a fluke but come on the Cowboys beat the Buccaneers because they showed more will and desire and were quite frankly just the better team.
