RED TIGER KOREAN MARTIAL ARTS CENTER

Red Tiger-Korean Martial Arts Center is a unique environment for learning. We teach both Traditional and Olympic Style Taekwondo in a diverse, inclusive, appreciative and encouraging environment. Taekwondo is a highly anaerobic Korean Martial Art that has the ability to change not just how a person looks but who they are. Taekwondo tones every muscle in the body. It helps to give increased flexibility, stamina, strength, stress relief, and also helps with weight loss. Most importantly, it helps the practioner obtain an inner strength they can feel and others can see.
Self defense is just a part of what we teach. In this extremely competitive world, it is increasingly important for girls and boys to gain a sense of self-discipline and the knowledge that nothing is impossible.
We instill respect for others, respect for elders, respect for family, respect for other cultures and, most importantly, respect for self. We also help with physical fitness, coordination and confidence.

Desire + Commitment + Support = Success>

TAE KWON-DO is Literally, "art of kicking and punching", tae kwon do is a native Korean form of martial arts that embraces kicking, punching, jumping, blocking, dodging and parrying. It is a system for training both the mind and the body with an emphasis on the development of moral character.

ITF TAE KWON-DO is a combination of the TULES (patterns) HAP KI-DO for self-defense and a hand and foot combination for coordination. TAE KWON-DO ancestral combative arts, taekyon and subak and kata (formal exercises of the Okinawan Shuri and the Naha schools of karate). TAE KWON-DO incorporates the abrupt linear movements of karate and the flowing, circular patterns of kung-fu with native kicking techniques. In modern times, hand techniques have become increasingly more important to tae kwon do. The use of the feet, however, remains the trademark and beauty of tae kwon do.

Taken collectively then, Taekwondo is the art of kicking and punching in unarmed combat.
The four physical components of Taekwondo are fundamental movements, patterns, sparring, and self-defense techniques that are intricately woven together to produce a sophisticated combat arsenal that is difficult to penetrate, let alone defeat.

But Taekwondo is so much more than just an effective self-defense mechanism or a means to achieve remarkable physical fitness. It is a philosophy and moral culture that, for those who truly master it, provides the foundation for a strong and noble life. Application of both the mental and physical disciplines of Taekwondo deepens the student's sense of respect and responsibility for him/herself and, more importantly, for others.
"Taekwon-Do is also known as one of the best means of developing and enhancing the emotional, perceptual and psychological characteristics that enable the younger generation, regardless of age, social status or sex, to effectively learn and participate in the social demands of his[/her] peers.
"Every movement of Taekwon-Do is scientifically designed with a specific purpose and a skillful instructor may, therefore, develop in the student a belief that success is possible for anyone.
"Constant repetition teaches patience and the resolve to overcome any difficulty. The tremendous power generated from one's body develops the self-confidence to meet any opponent, at any place, and in any situation. Sparring teaches humility, courage, alertness and accuracy, adaptability as well as self-control.
"Patterns teach flexibility, grace, balance and coordination, while the fundamental exercises develop precision and teach the method, principle, imagination and purpose. Eventually, this training permeates every conscious and subconscious action of the student."
