Concerned Parent
I rented a tape from Hollywood Video for my daughter, age 7. We are very protective about what she views on television. We watched the tape the first night as a family, when the movie was over we turned it off.
The next day my daughter was allowed to view the now-approved movie alone. After viewing the tape alone, my daughter took it into her grandmother telling her that there was a "bad movie" on the tape. My mother and I then viewed the end of the tape and found a sexually explicit movie that plays once Ice Age is over. It made me ill to think my little baby saw these images.
I have since contacted the Hollywood Video. Hollywood Video wants to give me free rentals to pacify me. I want to make it clear that all that I want is for other parents to be aware that this could happen. I suggested inexpensive labels to be placed on the tapes since they say they cannot view every tape. A label, warning parents they can't guarantee the content. They would not consider this option nor would they come up with another safety net. The images that my daughter saw can never be erased from her memory. It would have been the same as if I invited those actors into my home and had them perform those acts in front of my child.
Please help me get some sort of warnings on these tape.
