Thornpetal: poems and lyrics, gods and spirits

QUOTE

They call it a moment of definition... That split second where cowards fall and heroes rage.

NEW POEM

"All Lincoln's Men"

Dawn sinks into the eyes of dead soldiers that lay on blood-soaked earth. Taken down by those who yesterday were there brothers. Victims of an empty vengeance born of rulers that hold no truths.

REVIEW OF A CLASSIC MOVIE

"Hondo"

I finally saw this one, I've been trying to see it since forever and just now found it at Blockbuster. It's VERY DAMN COOL! Louis L'Amour wrote a wonderful story with beautiful relationships that the actors successfully bring life to. It's a great story of a hardened cowboy, (JOHN WAYNE) named Hondo, who has spent his entire life in the western territories, but now must face love after it has been absent from his life for some time, excluding his riding companion Sam... one tough-ass collie. He falls in love with a ready-made family, a woman and her young son. But it takes getting stuck in the middle of a war between the U.S. Army and the Apache (both of which he has allied with in the past) to make both Hondo and the woman realize their love enough to do something about it.

MUSIC REVIEW

Brian Housser is a Texas-Country singer who has maybe two songs that aren't about his wife leaving him. He's still damned good. He has very thoughtful lyrics and emotional tones. He's cool.
