The Yules
This is a website set up by Donald Yule and Esther Lyons in memory of their Mum and Dad, Robert Scott Yule (1906 - 1982)and Anne Copland Yule nee Brown (1912 - 2002). We hope that, as well as serving as a memorial for family and friends, this site will be helpful to anyone studying the family history of the Yules, Browns or Scotts.
The photo was taken in 1972
Briefly:Bob and Anne lived for many years at No 11 Fairfield Road, Stockton Heath, WARRINGTON ( a part of Warrington which was always in Cheshire!) moving "round the corner" to 5 Mill Lane (now Parkgate Road)in 1961, which turned out to be the last of their many addresses. Dad, a mining engineer turned civil engineer, worked for A Monk & Co., of Padgate, Warrington from 1946 until his retirement. Much of that time was spent on oil industry related contracts particularly at Stanlow Oil Refinery. In his last years with the company, he joined the Head Office staff working on the conversion of the company records to a micro-fiche system. Both Mum & Dad were active members of St John's Presbyterian Church on Wilderspool Causeway, Warrington. Dad was very keen on both rugby union and cricket, having played both for Uddingston - his home village, and for many years he was a fixture on summer Saturdays by the boundary at Walton Lea cricket ground when Warrington C.C. First XI were at home. Mum will be remembered for her work with the Women's Guild and for her well-received talks on the early days of motoring in Britain and on the life and work of Robert Burns.
