If you've already seen our web page on one of the rental sites, then you have a good idea about the condo and its proximity to other resorts. Sometimes we get more detailed questions.

Here are the FAQ's:

Q: How close is this condo to the slopes?

A: The Canyons Resort is a five-minute drive, about 2 miles from the condo. Park City Mountain Resort is about 5 miles, and 8 minutes. Deer Valley is about 7 miles, and 12 minutes away. Snowbasin, near Ogden, is about 45 minutes away. Alta, Brighton, Solitude, and Snowbird are all about 45 minutes too, through the Salt Lake Valley. Sundance is 40 minutes down through the Provo Canyon. Deer Valley and Alta do not allow snowboarding.

Q: Which is the best resort for lessons?

A: They're all excellent. All of them offer adult lessons for every level, whether you're just beginning, or if you want to brush up on the bumps. For kids, we've had our two, ages 7 and 9, in ski lessons at Park City Mtn. Resort (PCMR), since they were about four years old. The instructors are terrific, patient and fun. They cater to every level and age, and have a great reputation for training here in town. This is the home for the US Ski and Snowboarding teams. Deer Valley has a great ski school too, with lessons for every level as well. Snowboarding at Deer Valley is not permitted. The Canyons teaches skiing and snowboarding for every level. Ski lessons at all three resorts usually take kids starting at three years old, and potty trained. Call ahead to reserve your space. PCMR-1-800-227-2754, The Canyons-435-615-8036, Deer Valley-1-800-424-3337.

Q: Where's the nearest grocery store? Liquor store?

A: Wild Oats natural food store is an easy two-minute walk from the condo, and Smith's grocers is a one-minute drive. The closest Utah State Liquor store is a two-minute drive to the shopping area behind the Chevron, near Wendy's. It carries liquor, wines, and full strength beer, none of which are available at the grocery stores. The State liquor stores are open Monday through Saturday only, with limited hours. They are closed Sundays and holidays.

Q: Is there a gym nearby?

A: Yes. Swimming, jacuzzi, aerobics, weights, spinning, pilates, tennis, racquetball, running track, etc. We most often recommend:
Silver Mountain Spa: Redstone Village or Sidewinder Dr.-649-6670
Park City Racquet Club: 1200 E. Little Kate Rd.-645-5100
Basin Recreation Field House: Ute Blvd. at Kimball Jct. 649-1564
Call for each gym's specific amenities.

Q: Do I have to climb stairs in the snow to get into the condo?

A: No. The entrance is on the ground level from the street, and the attached garage leads into the kitchen. Also, the streets are plowed, and the sidewalks are blown quickly after the snow falls.

Q: Do we need to rent a car?

A: It is much easier to get around town with a car, however, there is a free shuttle that goes to all the local resorts, as well as historic Main St.

Q: How close is the shuttle to the condo?

A: The free shuttle pick up is in the Redstone Village Center adjacent to the condo. It is about a two minute, flat walk. The shuttle goes to all the resorts, Main St., and the outlet malls regularly.

Q: Is it hard to drive in the snow?

A: Since this is a high altitude area, sometimes it snows like crazy. In the middle of a major storm, even the most seasoned Park City driving veteran opts to stay put until the snow eases. However, most likely you will find the winter driving is not a problem here for several reasons:(1)We have a lot of snowplows, and we know how to use them. People are amazed at the efficiency and speed of our snowremoval capabilities. (2) We use lots of salt and sand with those snowplows, so the ice doesn't stay for long. Do be careful driving at night especially, though, because black ice can make you slip and slide. Just put it into second gear, and drive more slowly if the roads are wet, and the temp is below freezing. (3) After it stops snowing, here comes the sun, and bingo, the roads dry out quickly. Since this is the high desert, we don't have that slush hanging around in the street for a week.

Q: When is the Sundance Film Festival? How do I get tickets?

A: The next festival is January 19 - 29, 2006. Check out www.sundance.org for ticket information.

Q: When do the resorts open?

A: All are open daily 9am to 4pm through April 10, 2005, depending on snow conditions. They will reopen to skiers usually the second or third week in November, and the first weekend in December for Deer Valley.

Q: What is the summer like?

A: Gorgeous and uncrowded. Temps are mild, usually in the low 80's.
There are many activities in and around Park City during the summer. Try out trout fishing on the nearby streams, Provo River, and lakes, waterskiing, mountain biking and hiking at and around the resorts, swimming, shopping, etc. We also have five challenging golf courses within 10 minutes of town. Park City has an annual old fashioned 4th of July Parade down Main St., the famous Arts Festival the first weekend of August, the International Jazz Festival at the end of August, and much more in between. Mountain biking races, and the national softball tournament take place here in town annually. Watch the Olympic hopefuls workout at the Olympic Park across from the condo, or from the master bedroom window.
