Need more relaxation, or unable to, below a method that will help you relax .......
A Simple Relaxation Method, Leading Towards Meditation if you wish,
This is not full meditation, for those who wish to go there, ... they will be shown, once the following level is achieved, as it will follow naturally.
A few things to do prior to attempting this, .... you will succeed if you take care of the following issues.
1. Hate .. without fail hurts the hater more so than the hated .. find forgiveness.
2. Contempt .. Ditto ..
3. Greed ........ Understand what this does for you, the Earth, and Life ....
4. Humility .... Seek to understand that we, .. Man .. and the Earth are one, .. which once felt, will help sanitise the above, 3 .. we cannot hate or hold contempt, or follow the path of greed when our senses now tell us that we are one, ... we understand that our fellow man is much the same as us, .. hanging onto life the best we can, experiencing the highs, and lows, yet needing peace, love, and harmony.
For this instruction to be of use to you, .......... your space in which you practice, must be just that, ........ no interruptions, ........ no children playing, ....... nothing, ........ It is Your Space .... Later, you'll be able to practice with others ....
Welcome to your space, .................. the place where you give time to yourself, .........a time to let go of the day, ............ some time to love your being, and communicate with it.
For this mental exercise, It is suggested we lay flat or reclining for those who cannot lie on their backs comfortably, with head and neck supported to your own comfort level, belt loose, shoes and socks off, in a comfortably warm location, this can be on you're bed, your lawn, a field, the woods, a car on a high hill, a place that you like to be, .... this being the most contusive to relaxation in one's self ... again, later you'll be able to practice almost anywhere ... then even in the Lotus position if you want to ....
This time is for you, and you only, .....
There will be a moments quiet before you begin, during this silence, remember, this is for you, this moment, this time, this space, for you now, no guilt or shame to be felt here, being positive, not to worry about a thing, there is nothing to fear, just be .. with yourself and peace.
Be sure that you're comfy.
Without a ceiling light on or facing the sun or moon, and Laying on your back with eyes closed, gently look up towards your eyebrows, .....
without straining, just a little lift will suffice, ....
now place one hand on top of the other laid lightly on your chest, .... lay quietly, and still, with elbows supported, so they don't slip, thus giving you a jolt ....
become aware of your breathing, feeling your breath entering, .... down into your lungs, .... out into your bloodstream, .... travelling around your body, .... then leaving it, .... allow this breathing to become all you're aware of, ......
Slowly and very gently open your lungs, and slowly breath deep, all the way through to the stomach, being with your breath throughout it's cycle, ....
hold for a moment or two, ....
then, slowly and gently let it out, ....
now, ... repeat, ...................in............... hold for a moment .................exhale.........................
and again, ..................................................................
exhaling slowly and gently, remaining with your breath in your minds concentration, .................................................
you may feel that another breath or two is needed due to loosing concentration, if so, take them, there are no restrictions, ....
You'll feel when your mind is becoming calmer, in rhythm, with your breathing, as you're now feeling more relaxed, and notice the difference in your state of being, try not to think of or worry about this, all is well, you may notice that your legs are becoming heavy, or that you can't feel them at all, this relaxation will continue up your body, while breathing, and concentrating, you're going to leave your body behind, .... you'll no longer be aware of it, .... Don't worry, ....
Naturally allowing your breathing to regulate it's self of it's own accord, with your eyes still shut, you have become less aware of your body, which has now become relaxed to the point you don't notice it's being, you exist only in your mind, having left your body behind for a while, ....
As you lay there moving towards a place you will recognise as "near sleep", where it can be easy in fact to fall asleep, ... don't worry if you do, it happens, .... as time goes by you'll find the way not to ....
thoughts will come to mind, all sorts of things will try to stop you from enjoying this moment, your skin may start to itch, .... worries from the day may, neigh! will try to invade your space, but it's not time for them, this is your time, so .....
gently back to your breathing ... without contemplating the thoughts that want to enter and spoil your moment, don't give them space, they don't belong here and now.
You find yourself in a cosy state of relaxation, your breathing has now left your mind ..... and as the daily thought pattern slides away from you, if not before, by now you begin to notice light, although your eyes are shut, there is light in your forehead .....
Allow this light to fill your forehead, ...... let this light show you what it will ..... To start with, there may just be a little light, or a brilliant one ..... or with some, a darkness which gradually turns to light , like a screen .....
whatever manifests, .... do not fear, .... allow it to develop .....
let this moment take you, without a question in your mind.
Here is the moment ................................................................................................................
Should you be unable to clear your mind completely, and most of us can't to begin with, don't worry, imagine you're in a calm favourite place, a sunny beach, in the countryside, only allow beautiful images into your mind, .... get back to the calm.
It will be beautiful just as long as you don't interfere ....
Simply Be, and allow your moment to develop, asking No questions of the scene ....
If you falter now, and allow your daily mind back in ....
the moment will be lost, and you'll regret it.
After a few experiences, you'll be able to become more active within this dimension, feeling able to Observe and Interact when need be. From here on, answers to long held questions, and thoughts will be forthcoming, .... as long as we are honest with ourselves, .... we will be helped in understand longstanding and even un-asked questions, .... opening our minds to other possibilities.
Of course, we all falter, as our minds are now conditioned to interfere, interject, be busy, and so on, ......
that's why we're here doing this, our minds really want us to get to some sort of peace or further understanding, being ill at ease with the ongoing present state.
SO, Not to worry, we none of us get anything completely right ever, perfection is far from here.
Giving yourself the space and time, ( the same time each day is good, this helps to condition the mind ), over a week or two, you'll be able to master this simple method, with no need for religion, to read books or search out idols or mantras, and such.
Given time, you'll perfect this relaxation towards meditation, this being a first step.
Note:
This technique is easily learned with a little dedication, and once so, can be used as daily stress relief or energiser.
Given a little practice, you'll be able to enter this state of being in a few minutes, allowing it to last for twenty minutes, will recharge your energy levels at work, home or play.
You will be able to do this without a clock, and be surprised to find that you can be away for exactly the time you want.
Do Not Use An Alarm Clock, this will not be a good experience, and will defeat your intentions.
