Going to the Movies TFAD style!

- The Army had funny ideas about dress back in the 50’s and 60’s. Blue Jeans were taboo. If you left the post after a certain hour, you had to wear a suit and tie or your Class A’s. the post theater in TFAD also had a strange dress code. If you went to the first show, you could wear anything that covered your butt. If you went to the second show , you had to wear a suit and tie or Class A’s. Why this strange dress code to sit in a dark room? Story I heard was that the Colonel’s wife thought the “boys” looked so nice when they were dressed up. One thing for sure; If I went to the movies, I went to the early show!

Mascot
- Does anyone remember the Dog that was claimed by C Detachment? His name was Shotgun. He was a little brown shorthaired mutt. He would make all the formations, and would stand up front close to the First Sergeant. He would bark at any non-military who happened by. Some of the guys took him to Bar-le-Duc one Saturday and got him drunk on Cognac, They said he would not drink beer. Truth or fiction? You be the judge. My instinct says that they probably did.
When we moved to Vassincourt Shotgun stayed behind.I suppose he had friends in B detachment.
