A media research company in New York mailed a questionnaire to hundreds of service technicians in the manufacturing and service industries. The survey of 188 technicians, revealed that 91% of the microcomputers and peripherals that failed could have been prevented by regular preventive maintenance. The majority of computer service technicians interviewed felt that regular cleaning could have prevented 58% of the service calls.
