ANIMAL RIGHTS
My name is Victoria and I am an animal lover. One day I will be a vet and for someone to dedicate their life to animals, they have to also love animals and devote themselves to animal rights. This might be a life long project for me because people consider animals to be lower life forms. I read this story in the newspaper, about a man that threw a dog into traffic and this man got three years in prison. Then I said to myself "wow that's great,it is about time that someone got punished for hurting animals," but then it got me thinking. What would happen to me if threw a "human" into traffic. I have a pretty good idea, I would get 25 years to life in prison or possibly death row. So what is the difference between a person's life and an animal's life. Animals and people are both created by God,just because we don't look the same or speak the same language they should be treated like dirt. For example, Dec.7,2001 was a very hard day for me, because I was walking to the library and all of a sudden I saw a bunny running and I said to myself aw how cute a little bunny, and then out of the corner of my eye I saw a car, I said to myself oh no I hope the rabbit makes it aross the street,very sadly, he didn't make it across the street. He got hit by the car, but the driver didn't even try to slow down and after he hit the rabbit he didn't even stop to see if he was ok. I ran in the middle of the street, picked him up, and brought him on the sidewalk. When I felt for a heartbeat,he had a very weak one, so I started CPR and mouth to nose,I tried everything I could but it just wasn't enough and the rabbit died in my arms. There was a police station right across the street and I reported this incident and the officer said"it's only a rabbit there is nothing we can do about a rabbit." So if I reported the same thing only about a person do you think the officer would have had the same response, no very unlikely. This is the point I am trying to make that animals have no rights. This country kills animals for food, abuses them, expliots them,depriving alot of animals from living in a safe, clean ,and healthy enviroment.Now, I am not saying that everyone is like this because I know alot of people are true caring animal lovers. The people that treat animals like they are a part of the family, and that is the way that animals are supposed to be treated. Let's take a look at wildlife such as a lion. How does a lion eat? Well, a lion eats antelopes, which is called the circle of life. In my opionon, it is okay for aniamls to eat other animals because that is how they can survive. All of America can got without eating other aniamls because we have so much food in this world we don't have to eat any kind of meat. I have a dog named buddy. He is a border collie mix and he is part of my family. He is like a child to me and I love him so much that I try to take care of him as much as I can. Sometimes when I look in to his eyes it is like he is telling me something and I can communicate with him in different ways. He is starting to learn english because everytime I say, do you want to go out? He gets so excited and he starts jumping because he knows that he is going for a walk. People think that animals can be replaced, but that is not true because whenever it is my dog's time to leave this world, I will never ever find another dog with his personality,love, trust, loyality, kindess, intelligence, and most of all his soul. I could never find another dog like him just like you will never find another person like your mother or your father, etc. I would like to tell you a little about my self. I am a christian girl that loves animals, and I know that this is what God wants me to do in life. The same reason that God put Jesus on this earth was to die for people's sins, when he saw that all of the people were corrupted and evil. I believe that God put me on this earth to protect and to fight for the rights and freedom of animals because aniamls are also his creation too.The following list is something that I think should be added to the Bill of Rights:
Doemestic Animals:
1.Should have the right to a healthy, safe and clean enviorment
2.Should have the right to not be exploited or abused in anyway
3.Should have the right to the best vet care and good quality food
4.Should have the right to be trained by a professional so they can live a long and happy life.
5.Should have the right to be rehabilitated, instead of being unthenized for a crime of biting someone.
Livestock:
1. Should have the right to not be killed for food
2.Should have the right to not be abused or exploited in any way
3.Should have the right to have a healthy, clean, and safe enviorment.
Wildlife:
1.Should have the right to not be hunted and killed because of a sport
2.Should have the right to stay in their own natural habitat and not brought to circuses and zoos,etc.
3.Should have the right to live in peace without people disturbing them
Aquatic Life:
1.Should have the right to stay in their own natural habitat and not to be put on display for the public.
2.Should have the right to not be hunted for the sport of fishing
3.Should have the right to an adaquate diet and professional vet care
This pertains to ALL animals:
1.The right to not be hurt, abused or killed, otherwise the offender will suffer severe consquences, such as imprisonment.
