Sunday's Natural Hair Care
Women of color have struggled with the Europeanization of our hair for more than a century. Sisters, now is the time to free yourself from your hair. In this new era, it has become more and more common place for women of color to go natural. It's O.K.! Locks, bushes, braids, twists and short cuts are the styles that were meant for our hair. Contact a salon in your area for information on natural styles or e-mail me with any questions. If in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area e-mail me for a consultation or appointment.Brothers, don't feel left out! Our men are also embracing wonderful alternatives to the traditional corporate-cut. Feel free to express yourself through your tresses. If in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, you too can e-mail me for an appointment.
For all you lockers and natural hair connoiseurs, I know you want to floss your do for 2005! If you have any pictures you want to put on display, e-mail them to me at sun222day@yahoo.com. Check out the portfolio link to see some pics of visitors to this site!
Sign my guest book to ask questions, post comments, or simply to communicate with me and my visitors. It's so important for us to share our experiences with each other and encourage each other in the natural hair care journey.
Remember to use your best judgement and that you are taking any advise at your own risk.
SERVICES*LOCKS - Commonly known as dreadlocks, are in style full swing. This style has become a staple in black hair. Ranging from highly manicured stylish locks, to the traditional full and thick style that take on the natural pattern of hair growth. Locks are a commitment. Research locks and their meaning for you. It's a process of patience and love, be fully prepared to experience YOUR hair at it's worse and then it's best.
*BRAIDS - A tradition stemming from Africa that seems timeless. Braids come in various styles, from traditional box braids to micro-minis to intricate styles that may grace magazine pages. Styles are also created to compliment your personality, lifestyle and look.
*CORNROWS - Made even more popular by young men today, emulating styles of pro ball players, this classic coiffure has transformed hair into works of art. With zig-zags, spirals and funky designs, cornrows are at the height of hair fashion for men and women.
*NATURALS - Of course the 'fro should never go out of style. Short curly "TWA's" (teeny-weeny afro) or natural bushy tresses are being rocked by many today, whether you like to color it, texturize it or let it do it's own thing.
*WEAVES - This is the perfect alternative to wigs and bone-straight perms that are used to achieve a desired look. Weaves are being used to add length, color, body or even to rock a shorter cut.
