ST. LOUIS SUPER SCHOLARS!
ST. LOUIS SUPER SCHOLARS was formed by a group of educators who were concerned with the amount of time children were given amongst their busy and hectic schedules to sit down with an adult or older student to process and really think about the school work they do.
MISSION STATEMENT:
Therefore, the purpose of this organization is to provide children with the assistance they need on a daily basis and more importantly, to provide the children with the time and attention they deserve.
OBJECTIVES:
1. To provide one-on-one assistance to every child.
2. To provide a comforting, yet challenging environment with the core purpose of learning.
3. To provide this service free of charge to all willing participants.
OUR PLAN AS EDUCATORS
Not only does this program offer children the rights to their own education and the time that they deserve, but it also gives older students and young adults the opportunity to give back to thier community as a volunteer tutor in this program. Giving of one's time is one of the most precious gifts one can give, especially when giving to a child.
The forecast for the next five years is strong! For the past three years we have done nothing but grow and prosper in the community. Our tutors are all scanned and profiled for your child's safety, which is our utmost concern. Parents and/or guardians are encouraged to join us and see all the fun learning that goes on every day!
With the help of community funding and selfless giving, we are able to provide a healthy daily snack for all children. We use the school grounds so that it is easy for children to be available, since they do not have to travel anywhere.
As we look back on the past three years, statistically, we should easily double and possibly triple our starting numbers for this organization. Because of this, you should see very positive results in the outcome of your child's grades, academic performance, confidence levels, and with forming new friendships.
At each session, we not only focus on what homework your child may have or what test they may have to study and prepare for, but we also incorporate the following educational activities:
* Music
* Educational games
* Trivia
* Brain builders
* Technology
* Language/Culture
* Study Skills
* Organizational Skills
* Volunteering
* Acts of Kindness(learning to be helpful,
kind citzens). We can all make a difference.
"Acts of Kindness" is a part of the program that instills the basic core values that every person should strive to obtain to become a truly productive person in this world. Through random acts of kindness and through volunteering our time in such places as nursing homes and pantries and by giving of our time to clean up the community and plant trees, we can all hopefully become more aware of the power of ONE!
As previously stated, ST. LOUIS SUPER SCHOLARS meets every day after school. We begin session after a group meeting at 3:30. We have services available until 5:00. Once again, this service is free of charge and we hope you will make a grand effort to give this wonderful program a chance. We hope you will give your child a chance...to EXCEL as a ST. LOUIS SUPER SCHOLAR!
ST. LOUIS SUPER SCHOLARS has been in existence for the past three years. Every year the group continues to grow, as does the excitement of the children and tutors. In a lifestyle where time is becoming less available to our youth, we are here to give this precious gift back to the children in a loving, caring, supportive and fun environment.
