STAR Tutoring is an individualized academic service providing one-to-one and small group tutoring for learners of all ages and abilities. We serve students of every age -- preK-12, college-level, and adults. We provide study skills help, homework support, and remedial reading, as well as customized programs and workshops.
Whether you are struggling in a subject, or bored because classwork is not challenging enough, our individualized learning plans will address your needs. Our competitive rates and quality instruction make our private tutoring services a great value.
What does tutoring cost? Our individual tutoring package rates start at $40 per hour. (Mileage fee applies only to distances over 10 miles each way.) We provide quality, individualized teaching with study skills, organization, and time management integral to each session. Free assessments are available in K-12 reading, writing and math, by request.
How long is a tutoring session? Sessions are 1 hour unless a shorter or longer duration is desired. The recommended duration and frequency of sessions may be greater if your child needs to catch up on assignments, improve study habits, or fit tutoring into a brief period of time.
How long will my child need a tutor? First, we conduct a consultation, by phone or in person, to determine your child's current abilities, challenges, and goals. Once these goals are met, you may wish to set new goals and continue with an updated tutoring plan.
The time required to reach individual goals varies for each child. At any time, you may request progress reports from your tutor.
Where does tutoring take place? Wherever it is convenient for you. Your tutor can meet at your home, a public library, or a community center -- in whichever location you and your child feel most comfortable.
Do I have to pay registration fees? No. There are no registration or materials fees (except for college exam prep or your selected homeschool curriculum, if applicable). Occasionally, the tutor may recommend optional supplies that may benefit your child.
During what hours does tutoring take place?
