ANGELA WARNER who was submitted to a competition here in St. John's, by Allison Prior of Starburst Entertainment, is now in Charlston,
South Carolina for the big competition, we got word today that Angela has won the following:
1st. Prize for Singer/ Songwriter, for her song
STARS IN TIME, music composed and arranged by Bernie Scott.
2nd. Prize for Dramatic Monologue.
3rd. Prize for Stand Up Comedy.
1st place for situation comedy
And BEST OVERALL Award.

On Mother’s Day, Angela Warner will be doing what comes naturally — putting on a show.
The New Jersey-born singer/songwriter is part of Starburst Entertainment’s Mother’s Day concert Saturday night at the Arts and Culture Centre’s Basement Theatre, where she’ll share the stage with the Alison Prior Band, Gospel singer Jimmy Lee, John Howley and others.
When she’s not working with her friends at Starburst Entertainment, Warner is a regular on the St. John’s club circuit, belting out everything from blues to Motown with her band.
In late April, Warner was named winner of the talent portion of an international model and talent show held in St. John’s.
The win in St. John’s was as unexpected as her entering the contest in the first place, Warner said.
“Alison Prior from Starburst Entertainment found the ad in the Telegram and she called me up and said, ‘Angela this is it, this is the big break,’ ” Warner said. “She checked it out and did some research on it. Then we only had two days to prepare.”
As part of her show for the contest, Warner performed the famous Bette Davis scene from Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
For her song contribution, she performed Stars in Time, a composition of her own about the Hollywood stars of yesterday.
Bernie Scott, a member of the Alison Prior band, composed the music.
The finishing touches weren’t added until the night before the contest.
“We were running it pretty close there,” Warner said, adding her trademark laugh.
Fundraiser concerts are scheduled for the Fat Cat on George Street on June 17 and at Barkley’s in Mount Pearl on July 21, with a few extra concerts still in the planning stages.
Even as she starts raising money and securing sponsors, Warner still can’t quite believe she won the talent contest.

Bernie Scott has been playing lead quitar since the age of 14, has been in several bands playing the downtown circut, and out of town, Bernie has been trying his hand at songwriting, a song he wrote called "Doesn't Anybody Believe in Rock And Roll", will be on the next CD, Bernie and Allison have a Demo CD, all sound, mixing, and recording done by Bernie Scott.
