……….These silver Philippine Pesos came with a story, which may or may not be true. I found them in a small coin shop in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. They were on consignment from an owner who said that they were part of a large lot which had been dropped into the bottom of Manila Bay when the Japanese forces took that area in World War II. I don’t know what their history is supposed to be beyond that point, but I thought they were really great coins and bought all I could afford. They were minted in San Francisco, California, USA, and are the Philippine equivalent of our famous US “cart wheel” silver dollar. The VF grade is strictly my amateur opinion. Obviously I place a pretty high value on them but I do have multiples and would trade for something that appeals to me of similar value.
