WILD BIRDS/DOMESTIC BIRDS/ANIMALS vs PESTICIDES

This webpage is dedicated to helping to educate people about the effects toxic pesticides are having on our wildlife, domestic animals and we as human beings.

It is set up with websites you can view to learn more about the impact of toxic pesticides, and the alternative non-toxic ways to deal with pest problems.

It is up to you, the reader to study the recommended websites listed and come to your own conclusions regarding toxic pesticide use.

There are literally thousands of websites regarding toxic and non-toxic pest control products.

Also included are several Bird Groups which are free to join and offer information regarding domestic birds and even poultry as pets.

It is up to us as supposedly the "superior" beings to take care of this planet for it is the only one we have and the only one we can pass on to our children.

"Silent Spring", a book written by Rachel Carson, 1907-1964, a lifelong birder wrote the book which alerted the public of the disastrous consequences of the uncontrolled use of chemical pesticides.

An excerpt from her book reads, "There was a strange stillness. The birds for example, where had they gone? It was a spring without voices. On the mornings that had once throbbed with the dawn chorus of robins, catbirds, doves, jays, wrens and scores of other voices, there was no sound; only silence lay over the fields and woods and marsh."

In her warnings, Rachel Carson confirmed birdsong as a precious part of our natural world.

There are other books available regarding our wild birds such as "The Nature Company Guides---Birding", by Joseph Forshaw, Steve Howell, Terence Lindsey and Rich Stallcup - The nature Company-Time Life Books and "Expert Guide:Birds" by Michael Wright, Brown Books, just to name a couple. These books show the different species of wild birds and our water fowl, locations and habitat and are very informative. They do not go into the use of pesticides and are strictly for educational purposes. Go to your local book store or library to find these books and many others which are available regarding not only wild birds but different species of animals we share this planet with, including "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson.

The opinions I have stated herein are strictly my own and not that of anyone written about in this webpage, the books I have suggested regarding bird and waterfowl species, nor the below listed links.
