Solange Lowy Gallery
Solange Lowy was born in 1945 in Romania, arrived in Israel in 1964 and lives in Haifa, on Carmel Mount. She is married, has two children and two grand-children.
Solange has worked in architecture for 33 years before retiring in 1997.
She started her artistic activity in parallel, by studying ceramics in 1971. Her works with this material - sculptures, portraits, vases -have a special personal style. The exhibition sponsored in 1976 by the Jewish community of Chicago enjoyed general appreciation.
Without abandoning the ceramics Solange started working in enamel. Her miniatures have the same personal touch as the ceramics.
For several years now, Solange has dedicated herself exclusively to painting (acrylics), her leading motives being the vegetal world, sometimes combined with delicate feminine silhouettes, evocative landscapes of wilderness and water, or vibrant color games. Her paintings are poetic pictures filled with metaphoric light.
The exhibition held in Haifa Auditorium in January 2000 aroused both curiosity and interest. Her paintings were also shown at the Tiroche Gallery in Herzlia,at the Gordon Gallery in Tel Aviv, at the French Consulate in Haifa, and at the Carmel Medical Center in Haifa.
Starting November 2001 several of her paintings have been exhibited at Meridien Carmel Beach Hotel Haifa (in the lobby and the Coral and Aquamarine Rooms). All the paintings are for sale.
