Here are the top 10 punk bands of today (in my opinion)
1. LINKIN PARK
Formed: 1996 In: Los Angeles, CA
Styles: Post-Grunge, Alternative Metal
Similar Artists: Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against the Machine, Powerman 5000, Limp Bizkit, Saliva, Papa Roach, Alien Ant Farm, Stereomud
Old-school hip-hop, traditional classic rock, and spooling electronic vibes were the initial factors behind the building of the alternative metal quintet, Linkin Park. The band's southern Californian musical roots were also an underlying basis, for drummer Rob Bourdon, guitarist Brad Delson, and MC/vocalist Mike Shinoda formed a tight friendship.

Hardcore punk revivalists A.F.I. (A Fire Inside) originally formed in 1991 when its members -- vocalist Davey Havok, guitarist Markus Stopholese, bassist Vick, and drummer Adam Carson were attending high school in Ukiah, California. Vick was replaced by Geoff Kresge after several months, and the band played a few local gigs and released a split 7".

Punk-pop quintet Yellowcard formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1997, but didn't solidify their lineup until a move to Southern California in early 2000. Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Ryan Key, vocalist/violinist Sean Mackin, guitarist Ben Harper, drummer Longineu Parsons, and bassist Alex Lewis, the band officially debuted on wax in 2001

The story of Finch's beginnings is a testament to the persistence of one of its guitarists, Randy Strohmeyer, who has long been a true fan of the Drive-Thru label. Before Finch was even a gleam in a musician's eye, he was penning fan mail and shooting it off to Drive-Thru. Later he tried to promote interest from the label in a few groups he belonged to

Pennsylvanian punk-poppers The Starting Line originally came together in 1999 via version 2.0 of the old "vocalist wanted" flyer hanging at the local record store. Guitarist Matt Watts had a band called Sunday Drive. After seeing Ken Vasoli's AOL profile, he invited him to jam with his band.

The Montreal-based punk-pop group Simple Plan is comprised of high school pals Pierre Bouvier (vocals), Jeff Stinco (guitar), David Desrosiers (bass), Sebastien Lefebvre (guitar), and Chuck Comeau (drums). The five-piece initially came together when Comeau and Bouvier founded Reset at age 13. Reset was a modest success in Canada

Out of all the post-Nirvana American alternative bands to break into the pop mainstream, Green Day was second only to Pearl Jam in terms of influence. At their core, Green Day were simply punk revivalists, recharging the energy of speedy, catchy three-chord punk-pop songs. Though their music wasn't particularly innovative, they brought the sound of rock to a new level.
