ABOUT OUR PROGRAM....
The winter guards are an extension of our 45-member color guard that performs with the 300-member Pride Marching Band at Southwest Missouri State University.
Our band has performed at the MACY'S Thanksgiving Day Parade (1988, 1996, and 2001), Tournament of Roses Parade (1995), Orange Bowl Parade (1988), Lord High Mayor's New Years Day Parade in London, England (1990) Bands of America St. Louis Regional (1999), DisneyWorld, Disneyland, several professional football half-times (1985, 1987, 1997, and 1998), and was the feature band at the Bands of America Grand National Championships (2000). In addition to these performances, our band performs at all the SMSU home football games. We sponsor the annual Ozarko Showband Contest, which brings over 40 high school bands to our campus for a prelims/finals marching band competition.
Our color guard students have talents in flag, rifle, sabre, and dance, and join us from cities all over Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Arkansas, California, as well as from Japan.
