Welcome to Dan-Tau Custom Fashions and Gifts
Dan-Tau Custom Fashions and Gifts specializes in the production and marketing of porcelain dolls, porcelain-like dolls, cloth dolls, and bears. At our website you can find gifts for all ages and in all price ranges. We have dolls from a variety of cultures and in a variety of styles and sizes. Included are baby dolls, toddlers, angels, flower pot dolls, male and female dolls, fashion dolls, quilted bears, Raggedy Ann dolls, and child-size dolls.
Dan-Tau is owned and operated by Sherri Lemons Gipson, who is a certified Doll artist. The dolls are cast, fired, painted and clothed by Sherri. The majority of dolls wear hand-made clothing.
About The Creator
Sherri is a native of Houston, Texas who began sewing clothes for herself and other family members at the age of 13. She made the majority of her wardrobe during junior high, high school and college. After leaving home and starting her own family, she began sewing clothes for her two children. It was during this time that making crafts also became one of her hobbies. The first dolls she made were Cabbage Patch look-a -like dolls.
In 1994, Sherri decided to turn her sewing and craft making skills to profit by becoming a Small Business entrepreneur. She decided to name this business after her two children, Danielle and Taurence; thus the name Dan-Tau Custom Fashions and Gifts. As a family operated business, Dan-Tau’s specialties were custom-made clothing, fabric picture frames, can-art, and fabric accessories. Later custom made decorative pillows was also added as a specialty.
In 1998, Sherri became interested in porcelain dolls and began taking doll-making classes. In about a year and a half‘s time, she added porcelain dolls to her list of Dan-Tau specialties and has since become one of its primary focuses.
To maintain her doll-making skills, Sherri attends seminars, doll shows, and craft shows. In 2001, Sherri made and donated 4 baby dolls to the Women’s Shelter in Charlotte, NC.
Sherri knows that the success of her business is due to her faith in God; and to her supportive and loving husband, Fredrick and children, Danielle and T.J.
