THE NEW PACIFICA FIRED AND BANNED

The following is a word for word article that appeared in the May edition of AFTRA's (American Federation of Television and Radio Artist's) "Local Broadcast Bulletin."The "three union activists"mentioned in the piece are the AFTRA 3. Djabel Faye, Marjorie Moore and Paul DeRienzo.

WBAI UPDATE

"after a tumultuous start, AFTRA and the Pacifica Foundation are negotiating the terms and conditions for the first AFTRA agreement covering employees at radio station WBAI. AFTRA believes that it will be able to achieve a positive conclusion in those negotiations.

We worked with the Company to ensure that, by the end of May, all employees would receive seniority increments not paid in the past two years.

In the mean-time, we continue to pursue the unfair labor charges before the NLRB in connection with the improper discharges of three union activists."

long time WBAI producer Habte Selassi appears to have joined the ranks of the New fired, banned and exiled at Pacifica. The following email reports on the ongoing bloodbath at Pacifica.

I spoke to Habte earlier tonight and he told me he had a meeting with Bernard yesterday morning in which he was informed his show Labbrish was been moved to early Thursday morning, 2:00 AM to 4:00 AM.

The move would take place this week. This means that following Robert Knight from now on, Labbrish will air. Habte said that he feels this time change is being made out of retaliation, but rather than rejecting it and therefore making it easy for Bernard to get rid of him, he decided to accepted this new time. He also said
That he's going to refer to his show as being in exile and that I Can spread the word. So for inquiring minds, that's the story.

SHOCKER: Sexual Harassment charges made against KPFA --STORY DEVELOPING
see http://www.dreamwater.org/women/slavename/ for latest on the Pacifica sex harassment scandal.

The Pacifica civil war continues. Teresa Allen, Houston LAB and iPNB Member, convicted of trespassing at KPFT. iPNB's Carol Spooner promises seven years of war, "...We fought these people for 7 years, and we will fight them 7 more if necessary. It's stupid, but one does what they must." According to initial reports staffers at Houston's Pacifica station KPFT testified against Allen. iPNB activists admit they have thin support in Houston. Watch to see if the iPNB's anti-union bloodbath is extendeded to KPFT.

March 4, 2002 the WBAI AFTRA THREE, Pacifica news reporter Paul DeRienzo, co-host with Miss Joan Marie Moossy of Let'em Talk, Marjorie Moore of the WBAI morning program Sunrise and WBAI Program Director Djabel Faye announced that they plan to take thier complaint of unfair labor practices against the Pacifica Foundation and radio station WBAI all the way to trial. According to DeRienzo this important move will "advance a culture of fairness and worker democracy at WBAI, which has suffered from more than a year of internal conflict." The three workers were fired abruptly and without warning a week ago, they claim that their firings were the result of anti-union animus by some Pacifica employees and managers. AFTRA, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists will represent the three before the National Labor Relations Board. Pacifica and WBAI are being represented by Daniel Silverman, the former Regional Director for the NLRB for New York.

The American Federation of Television & Radio Artists, New York Local has brought official charges before the National Labor Relations Board alleging that WBAI and the Pacifica Foundation have engaged in unfair labor practices. Among the charges are allegations that WBAI/Pacifica's firing of Marjorie Moore, Paul DeRienzo and Djabel Faye was motivated by their union activity. MORE NEWS COMING!!!
