THE DEATH OF A PRESIDENT

My daughter will attend Eureka College in the Fall and I'd like to extend my sympathy to the Reagan family....his involvement in this College was truly one of passion...one of which, my daughter will soon benefit from.

My dear, democratic=) friend from ageless started this 'round' of discussions...it has been very LIVELY to say the least....for those of you who like a good discussion, debate....we'll start here...even if you AREN'T a roaring democrat such as Harrison=) Plz email with your comments and I'll post for others to view...Singalou.

The Cold War: Myth or Reality?
THE COLD WAR

So much blood, treasure, and emotional energy was
spent on this weird concept.

I think the Cold War was largely a fraud, but I'd like
to open a discussion where others can offer their own
opinions and thoughts.

Possible discussion points:

Do you think it was a fraud, or an honest, sincere
conflict?

What particular struggle during the Cold War resonated
most with you? Why?

What's your opinion of the military-industrial complex?
Are it's operators really interested in protecting our
freedom or just lining their pockets? Perhaps a subtle
combination of the two?

Does the USA promote socialist/communist policies
for the benefit of its own citizens?

If you are a non-USA citizen, tell us about your country
and it's role in The Cold War, aka the fight against
communism (or socialism). Was it worth it in your
opinion?
If you are from a developing nation, would you be
happy to have someone like, say, Augusto Pinochet
leading your country to "protect" you from socialism?

Any other thoughts or issues worth exploring?
