if your friend is that seriously in love with him lay off it will ruin your friendship to go out with him. if you really like this guy let your friend know everything that he has said and that he likes u and u like him but u won't go out with him if it will do anything to the friendship. girls get very obsessed with guys so if u went out with him she might do something stupid.
