The Renzoko Kaarate Kobujitsu ryu is a combat martial art system made up of the following traditional (ryu)systems. Chito ryu karate, Kodenkan jujitsu, Daito ryu aikijitsu, Toyama ryu batto do, Matayoshi ryu kobudo, and Togakure ryu. The system was founded by Robert Leisure Hanshi, who begain his study in the martial arts at age six in Gotimba Japan in 1950's while his father was stationed at camp Fuji Japan. His sensi was a policeman in the rule farming community and taught the system of martial arts called the Shinden Fudo Katori ryu. Mr. Leisure Hanshi begain the development of the system he now teaches in 1974 and finalized the system in late 1992 after founding the Shinin budo kai which is the governing body for the system. Mr. Leisure has earned dan grades in six martial arts systems and is ranked 8th dan. The name of the dojo he teaches in is called the Aiki Mon Dojo or spirit gate dojo. Students learn traditional Okinawan/Japanese empty hand and weapons arts, the combined arts of Chito ryu Karate, Matayoshi kobudo, Toyama ryu Battojitsu, Daito ryu Aikijujitsu, Kodenkan Jujitsu, and Togakure ryu . The methods taught are not for competition or sports the dojo does not teach recreation martial arts. The Hombu Dojo is moving this year to Fayetteville NC. to establish its headquaters and home dojo. For those living in the area it is a chance to experience something unique and traditional. Prospective students must watch a class in progress, have an interview, and pass a background check. Due to the serious nature of the study of martial arts no one is allowed to study with us under the age or 18 years old and all students are required to sign a release form before starting training.
