A women walks into the Five & Dime looking for Dracula teeth. "No use going to Walmart 'cause they ain't got'em,"
For Michelle, the store has always been home. "We're doing what we feel a variety store ought to be doing. Others go big ticket, were staying small. Each aisle is tightly packed. "We find items that other stores say don't exist anymore." But we have everyday items as well, and tools. The store also caters to the young. The toy section carries hundreds of small items: jacks, balls, marbles, yo-yos, tops, tattoos. Another aisle is a gold mine of candy: candy cigarettes, candy lip sticks, abba-zabas, bb bats, big hunks, and of course Penny Candy.
Were proud of our "joke items" fake blood, rubber vomit, whoopee cushions, disappearing ink, as well as disguise sets and funny hats. The store has only old vending machines, were the kids fill them full of pennies, nickles, and dimes. There has been much change in the area, buildings come and go, "But this Five & Dime is here to stay." With all the high tech business, and long lines.
It's nice to know, that our customers can come in and unwind.
