BI - MEN-THERAPY

“They are married, some are engaged to be married, and some are separated, divorced or widowed. They face unique challenges in life often hiding their feelings from wives, friends, and family. Others have had their marriages and families destroyed. Some have even lost jobs. They are accused of "fence sitting" by heterosexuals and homosexuals. Some of these men find ways to incorporate their feelings into marriages and families and decide whether or not to act on them. Some have tremendously supportive wives. At times these men feel totally invisible, alone, misunderstood. I am referring to bisexual men or men who self identify as bisexual.
Perhaps you know someone who could benefit from the unique features of my service. The struggle for many men with conflicting needs, desires, and loyalties requires understanding each individual as their own unique being with their own set of circumstances. Major issues affecting bisexual men are so often misunderstood causing this sexual minority to harbor secrets, pain, shame, and anger that negatively impact their life.

I am a licensed clinical social worker, trained with 15 years of clinical experience and deeply aware of the complexity of such concepts as “sexuality”, “sexual orientation”, and “gender”. My philosophy of treatment moves beyond the scope of assuming labels, instead I assist my clients on the journey to self-exploration and acceptance.

Using traditional talk therapy that is nonjudgmental and confidential I confront difficult issues in a nurturing and accepting environment. Treatment is practical and goal oriented, reflecting the real life concerns of the individual client. My clientele consist of men between the ages of 30-55 who self-identify as bisexual, resist or dislike labels, are in a mixed-sexual orientation marriage, open relationship, going through a divorce or may be experiencing one or more of the following:

Difficulty accepting one’s sexual feelings and or orientation
Stress, anxiety, depression, and guilt
Lifestyle changes
Loneliness and isolation
Intimacy issues
Conflict over religion, sexuality, and or lifestyle
Sexual addiction /compulsivity
Loss of healthy sexual energy
Desire to remain married or in a relationship
