Shadow's World of Cryptozoology
This site is dedicated to what I think is the coolest subject in the world,Cryptozoology,the study of hidden animals,such as The Loch Ness Monster,Sasquatch,Yeti,etc.
My favorite cryptid is the Loveland Frog. This creature was sighted in Loveland,Ohio(near the Miami River) back in the 70s by two policemen in two different weeks. One of the policemen was on duty when he went over the a bridge that goes over the Miami River and he came upon a creature laying in the road. He thought it was a dog so he stopped his patrol car and got out. As he did the creature stood up and he realized it was not a dog. It was a bipedal(standing on two legs) animal with scaly skin. He shot at it but missed as it leaped over the guard rail.Several other people saw the creature.
A very famous cryptid is Sasquatch or Bigfoot. Sasquatch has been reported all over North America,by all different kinds of people,claiming all kinds of stories from just catching a glimpse of one,to being kidnapped by a family of them.
The Indians knew Sasquatch by many different names,some being Sasquatch,Windago,Omah,Skookum,and Skukum.
One of the most famous sightings of Sasquatch occured on October 20,1967 in Bluff Creek,California,by Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin.
The two were actually looking for Sasquatch when their sighting took place.
One afternoon,they had just rounded a bend in a creek when they saw a large bipedal animal on one of the sandbars in the creek. The creature was large and muscular,with short dark brown hair covering its body. Patterson's Welsh pony reared and fell while Patterson still on. Patterson quickly got back up and grabbed his 16 mm handheld Kodak movie camera and started to film as the creature walked back into the woods.
Many say this footage is of a man in a suit,but those that have tried to duplicate it have failed.
Many skeptics ask why we never find bodies. Well,we rarely ever find naturally killed bears either. The flesh is usually eaten by scavengers,and the bones are eaten by porcupines and other animals.
One of the most famous cryptids of all time is The Loch Ness Monster. Nessie,as it is affectionately called,has made herself popular all over the world.
The earliest known sighting was made more than 1,400 years ago by Saint Columbia. While at the loch he saw Nessie attack a swimmer. Saint Columbia ordered the monster to leave the man alone and the monster did as it was told.
Nessie's reign of fame begain in 1933,when more people started coming to the loch.
On April 19,1934 R. K. Wilson took the most famous photograph of Nessie ever taken. This black and white photo of a head,neck,and back,is said to have been hoaxed by Wilson by using a toy model.
Yeti or The Abominable Snowman,is the resident cryptid of the Himalayas.The native monks and Nepalese people have lived along side the Yeti for hundreds of years. Yeti means "dweller among the rocks". He is said to have brown,gray,or even whitish hair.
Many footprints have been found,about as long as a average sized man's foot,but much wider.
One woman even claimed to have been attacked by a Yeti. She said she was watching her yaks graze when a Yeti attacked her. He knocked her down and ripped a handful of hair out of her head. Then he turned on her yaks. Three of yaks were dead when her brother found her.There were also several large footprints in the sand around the yaks.
