Autism No Limits

When getting the right support a person with autism will have no limits on what they can do. In my opinion autism is not a bad thing to have. For me autism was given to me as a gift from God. I am proud of who I am. I will share my story to anyone who wants to listen and I will also listen to your story as well. Please feel free to email me. slaveofbill@yahoo.com

October 5, 2006 on AUTISM ONE RADIO from Chicago,Illinois I will be having a interview with Rhonda Brunett about my book GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS:COPING WITH AUTISM. Rhonda also had a interview with William Stillman author of AUTISM AND THE GOD CONNECTION. This radio show is a excellent source in giving information on autism. It unlocks many doors so people with autism can see that there is life after being diagnosed.

On December 18, 2006 my second book titled: "Going Through The Motions: Coping With Autism 2" will be available. This book can now be ordered through Barnes and Noble and also Amazon.com.

EDUCATE SCHOOLS ON AUTISM

"YOU HAVE TO BE ME TO UNDERSTAND ME"

I have written a children's book titled "SHY HAROLD AND HIS HIDING PLACE" which is not published yet. I have written books on myself on having autism and what my life was like living in a normal confusing world. I wrote the 2 books titled: "Going Through The Motions: Coping With Autism" so the adult world can try to understand what it is like to have autism. Now I am going to write books for children so that they too can understand more about having autism or have a better understanding about a classmate that has autism.
My 10 year old son does not have autism but he is being taught about autism from me. When I wrote "Shy Harold And His Hiding Place" my son simply loved the story. Shy Harold is about a 10 year old boy with autism. Each day Harold struggles not only with himself but also with his classmates. My goal is to get books on autism in the schools so teachers and other children can feel what children with autism struggle with each day. I was born with autism and lived with autism I know what it is like to have autism and I know what it is like to be an autistic child and an autistic adult. Writing books on autism is what I know so who better then to write a children's book on autism then someone who really knows what it is like.

What some autistic kids do after school

A grandmother of an autistic grandson told me that whenever she visited her grandchildren the boy would just come out of the room to see what his grandmother brought him then he would leave the room and go back to do whatever he was doing. She gave a look of disgust when she spoke of her grandson although she spoke highly of the boy's sister, who did not have autism, she said they had fun together.
I totally related to her grandson. I told her when I was a little kid what I would do. Once when my aunt and uncle were visiting I came home from school and ran immediately into my room. I didn't speak to anyone! Once in my room I jumped onto the bed turned on the radio and rocked away into my world.
The reason I told this grandmother about myself was because I wanted her to understand that her grandson didn't hate her he just had no interest at the time and he needed to be in his own world.
Some people misunderstand autistic kids for instance in my case my aunt and uncle thought that I was taking street drugs. They did not understand what was going on with me and at time neither did I but when they accused me of taking drugs I was furious!
