The fifth annual Scott Holubiw Memorial and Nekoosa Lost Arrow Archers Youth Archery Shoot was held on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Nekoosa Lost Arrow Archers. The weather was again absolutely gorgeous with lots of sunshine and perfect temperatures.
As the participants arrived, their first stop was the Registration Station where they filled out entry slips for door prizes and received a memorial silicone bracelet. Next stop was a safety briefing. Once they had equipment in hand, they proceeded to the shooting line where they received certified instruction on form and shot placement. We had a couple of surprises this year! Archer's Pro Shop developed a revolving base that held 3 targets on it. The object was to hit one of the targets as it was revolving. Quite a challenge! Then Jessica from Newsline 9 came out and spent some time with us. The story aired on the 10:00 news that night and was absolutely awesome! Hopefully many of those who attended got a chance to see it! We also divided the competition shoot into 4 flights for awards instead of just 2. That meant twice as many participants went home with medals than in previous years!
We again had so many very generous sponsors who provided door prizes! The Wisconsin Rapids Area Optimist Club provided and served brats and burgers for us which were a complete hit with everyone! The Party Connection in Nekoosa provided the water to keep everyone hydrated. Volunteers manned the stations and kept everything running smoothly. A huge thank you goes out to all the sponsors and volunteers! In addition, a huge thank you to all the participants and the friends and families who came with them. You're all the reason this event is so awesome and continues to grow every year!
Scott was certified as a Wisconsin Archery Hunter's Safety Instructor with a huge passion for getting youth involved in the sport of archery. This annual shoot is dedicated in his memory to carry on that passion and is sponsored by his family, friends, and local area merchants. The date for next year's shoot will be Saturday, October 3, 2009, so mark your calendars now and be sure to save the date!

Directions to Lost Arrow Archers: Take Highway 173 out of Nekoosa to County Highway G. Follow G to Rainbow Casino. Turn right on Creamery Road, which is the next road past the casino.
