It's Prehistorytime!

We're following the footsteps
Of the giant dinosaurs
The footsteps take us down the street
And right up to a door
Up above the door we look
And there we see a sign
The sign says, "Public Library--
It's Prehistorytime!"

It's Prehistorytime, my friends,
It's Prehistorytime
When dinosaurs ruled the earth
With others of their kind
One hundred million years ago,
It seems so far behind
Unless you're at the library for Prehistorytime

All that's left are fossils
Of creatures never seen
Never seen, unless, of course,
We had a time machine
A time machine could take us back
For a closer look
I know of such a time machine
I think it's called a book

Turn the page and there you'll see
Tyrannosaurus Rex
Another page will show you
The Archaeopteryx
Here we see a favorite
Three-horned friend of mine:
Triceratops, inviting us to Prehistorytime!

It's Prehistorytime, my friends,
It's Prehistorytime
When dinosaurs ruled the earth
With others of their kind
One hundred million years ago,
It seems so far behind
Unless you're at the library for Prehistorytime

Many books show dinosaurs that we can look upon
Like Stegosaurus, Allosaurus, and Iguanodon
Some had spikes and some had claws
And some had bony heads
Some ate plants at every chance
And some ate meat instead

Where did they go? Nobody knows
And that's okay with me
I would rather read about them at the library
I'm glad that we weren't there
When it was time for them to dine
Or we would all be tasty treats
For Prehistorytime!

It's Prehistorytime, my friends,
It's Prehistorytime
When dinosaurs ruled the earth
With others of their kind
One hundred million years ago,
It seems so far behind
Unless you're at the library for Prehistorytime
