Sakya College Library Project
In memory of former Principal, the late Venerable Khenpo Migmar Tsering (1956-1999).
Sakya College's Current Library, with more than 4,000 volumes in the Tibetan language and 1,500 in other languages, houses one of the best Sakya research libraries in the world. But even this significant collection must be upgraded and more fully developed to meet the needs of today's students and scholars.
We believe that a new, comprehensive library facility will provide immeasurable benefit to students, teachers, and visiting scholars at Sakya College. This library will be dedicated to the memory of the College's late principal, Khenpo Migmar Tsering, who gave so much of his life to the college and who is held in such high regard and is loved by his former students and fellow faculty. To honor him, the library will be named "The Khenpo Migmar Tsering Memorial Library."
Goals:
1. Raise funds to construct a new library building and to pay off the debt for purchase of land.
2. Establish fund for purchasing books, computers, printers, software, scanners, and a copying machine.
3. Raise funds to hire one librarian and to maintain site.
Total amount required: $170,000
In order to raise funds for the project, several Chenrezig and a few Manjushri thangka (traditional deity paintings bordered in brocade fabric) are available for a minimum donation of US$195, including standard UPS shipping or priority mail (for US orders only). Pictures and descriptions of the thangkas are available via the links below.
To make a donation to this project, please make checks payable in US dollars to Ngawang Jorden and mail to:
