Jimmy Wayne Paper Angels Awareness Program
Paper angels you're in my thoughts and prayers,
No matter where you are right now,
Remember God's right there,
He's asking all of us,
To help take care of all his paper angels everywhere
written by Jimmy Wayne and Don Sampson
What is/Why has this program been established? The Jimmy Wayne Paper Angels Awareness Program was inspired through two influences: 1) Because of the testimony of Mr. Jimmy Wayne, a foster child whose life was changed by a special someone that saw the best in him. (Thank you, Beatrice Costner.) 2) Then reinforced by this phenomenal country star's song entitled "Paper Angels." My heart was compelled to do more after hearing this magnificent piece of music, and the Lord lead me to creating this website. The purpose of this program is to raise awareness, educate, and provide informative resources to the web community with the hopes of helping a hurting humanity. My sincere desire is to help us realize the importance of caring....a call of action for caring!!
Who is the founder of this program/website? Well, that would be me, TattedSaint, a servant of Christ (1Cor 4:1). I am a born again Christian who is a psychologist and client advocate for battered women & children. I am currently employed as the Assistant Director for Christian Care. To me, there is no greater way I can incorporate my desire to help others and my admiration for Jimmy Wayne then by creating this website as a means of gratitude/tribute to Mr. Wayne and caring for children in God's power. I also run a program called MC’s Operation Soldier Support, in which you can receive mail addresses of our amazing troops overseas who are keeping us free; it is a way to show your support for the troops!! This ministry is under construction (receiving for addresses). I hope to have it back up and running with the New Year.
**Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Mr. Jimmy Wayne or his record label. I will forever be a fan of Mr. Wayne, once again wishing to pay tribute to him and God's most precious creations: children.**
So how can you help? Let me share a few programs that touch many hearts, including Jimmy Wayne’s:
We drive past them everyday on our way to school or work…those buildings painted red and white; otherwise known as The Salvation Army. One of the purposes of those red and white buildings is to provide “social betterment for the poor.” There is no possible way this purpose can be fulfilled without your loving contributions. What about today? Do you have anything to give? Those old clothes and toys may be useless to us, but they are a TREASURE to a child who has nothing special to call his/her own. It’s the simple things in life that make the biggest difference: simple giving.
ANGEL TREE PROGRAM: The Salvation Army sponsors this wonderful program. The Program: Through October - Families apply for Christmas Assistance at the Christmas Cheer Center. Children and older adults who are eligible are signed up for the Angel Tree Program. Angel Hang Tags are made with the names & clothing sizes of the children and older adults.
The Process: November 1-3 - The completed Angel tags are sorted and assembled into groups & given to the Angel Tree Coordinator for each group, church, or company or directly to an individual.
November - The Angels are displayed for adoption by the Angel Tree Coordinator at each location.
Each angel upon the tree represents a beautiful child who comes from an underprivileged home. The paper angels contain child’s name, age, and cloth sizes. The gift you buy goes directly to your chosen angel!! If you would rather give money, still choose a child’s name and donate the money to them; The Salvation Army will use your money to buy your angel the gift he or she wanted.
Go to the Angel Tree
Pick an "Angel" from the tree --each has the name, age, and gender of a child.
Tear off the middle and bottom sections and return the top portion to the tree.
Record your name on the bottom section and place it in the wrapped box next to the tree.
Use the middle section to help you shop.
Return your wrapped gift(s) to the tree, with the middle section attached to the outside of the gift(s).
Local branches of The Salvation Army also contain names of “Forgotten Angels;” these forgotten ones include those who did not sign up in time, not eligible during registration due to illness, job loss, homelessness which occurred after October, an angel adopted who received no gift, or a non-adopted angel. Upon request, you can touch the hearts of children even AFTER the holiday season.
FOSTER CARE: Despite all the hard work from welfare and community agencies (and individuals), unfortunately, not all children are safe in their homes and for their benefit they must be placed into foster care. The purpose of foster care is to provide care, supervision, loving guidance, and support for neglected and abused children. Statistics from 1995 in the US show that more than one million children were victims of maltreatment. With this very scary stat also comes the reality of needed loving foster parents to help right this injustice. In the past twenty years, the foster care population has gone from 276,000 to almost 494,000….but still more caring people are needed. There is an old saying that is extremely fitting right there: Will you STEP IN where others have stepped OUT? Wondering about the requirements of becoming a foster parent?
General requirements: Requirements vary from state to state, and it is always best to check with your local foster care agency, but some basic general requirements are listed in the following:
Be at least 21 years old. - Have a bed and personal area in which a foster child can keep his or her belongings. - Your home meets local fire, safety, and sanitation standards. - Be physically and emotionally capable to care for children - No alcohol or drug abuse problems - You must pass a criminal background check - No record of child abuse or neglect - An income providing for your own family, independent from the foster care reimbursement income.
Financial assistance: Depending on what state you live in, financial support will vary. It is best to consult with a foster care agency in your area regarding this matter; however, every state does provide financial support, and every state does require proof that your family's needs are currently met prior the additional income.
There are some negative comments concerning this aspect of foster care; some say people become foster parents because of the money…well, I would like to debate that; my home state of Iowa has a 65% adoption rate for foster children, and once a foster child is adopted the parents no longer receive funding…these parents are funded by LOVE!!! And let me also take a minute to address the myth that foster children are “bad.” Foster children may be emotionally hurt but never bad. Just like David Pelzer says, “Even Superman had foster parents.” Below I have provided more information on foster care, including applications and other helpful links.
Asked how he’s managed to come so far, Jimmy says: “It’s the power of one. Right now, right here, I’m living proof that it takes only one person to make a difference.” Please, won’t you take the time touch a child’s life whether through giving or becoming foster parents? Through either method, you could be influencing the next Jimmy Wayne or 1993’s Miss Teen USA Charlotte Lopez! Thank you so very much and God bless you beyond measure!!!
Operation JW Gift (copyright 2003): Starting the beginning of every October, I will putting a Birthday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas book together as a suprise for Mr. Wayne. I have a great birthday idea for Mr. Wayne, but I need your help to make this dream come true. I am creating a book of birthday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas letters for our beloved Jimmy....it is a collection from each of his fans. NOW, HERE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE GIFT: It would be FANTASTIC if in these greetings EACH PERSON PROMISE TO ADOPT ONE ANGEL FOR THE HOLIDAYS...so we would not only be touching Jimmy's heart but also the life of a child. In the e-mail: include your name, 3 letters, and mention you are adopting an angel for the holidays for his birthday. ***Attention: For those struggling through economic/financial difficulties, I will be more than willing to work a way out for you to participate in Operation JW Gift...please, e-mail me.***

JIMMY WAYNE WOWS THE CROWD
by David Allen
BOILING SPRINGS - After several opening acts, audience members at Gardner-Webb University rose to their feet to welcome Kings Mountain native and country music recording artist Jimmy Wayne back to his third annual Cleveland-Rutherford Kidney Association benefit concert.
This year, 1,275 children were sponsored under Operation Cheeks in the Seats, according to Wayne's sister, CRKA Executive
Director Patricia Looper. Each child was sponsored by a $10 ticket purchase.
After a few songs, Jimmy sent a message to everyone in the audience, explaining how his past has crafted his life now and into the future. He spoke to the children in the audience, encouraging them to follow their dreams.
"Stay strong. Do not give up. Do not quit school. Get out of school, find what you love to do and go after it," Wayne said to cheers and applause. "Do not let anybody get you down."

JIMMY WAYNE PRAYER WHEEL
Phil. 1:3,4,9: I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment.
Inspired by my dear friend, Bethany, and her tribute to Mr. Clay Aiken, I was compelled by the good Lord to begin a wheel of prayer for Mr. Jimmy Wayne. My heart has been blessed to speak with several of his fans that like myself lift his name before the throne of the Lord in prayer daily. The purpose of this project is to have all of his fans praying for him at least once a day, equaling 24-hour prayer coverage (smile). All you have to do is e-mail me with a time in which you will pray for Jimmy Wayne…you are more than welcome to send several times if you pray for him more than once a day. I will list all the times and who is praying as a means of thanking YOU for such a giving spirit!!!!
Requests to mention:
1) Please, pray for Mr. Wayne’s health and safety as he travels from show to show via driving and flying.
2) Please, pray that Mr. Wayne will always feel the overwhelming spirit of God’s love upon him, and a feeling of deep appreciation from his fans.
3) Please, remember Jimmy’s family and friends in prayer (his sisters [Patricia, Rhonda, & Kathy], his brothers [Kenny & Charlie] his nephew [Brian], and his mom, Brenda).
4) He mentioned last year that his father wrote him a letter; please pray that the Lord will place His hand upon their relationship.
5) And finally, please pray the Lord will use him and his music to touch hearts, just as ours were touched!
