Southampton Allotment And Gardens Association

The Association known as ,S.A.G.A. has been in existence for many years, and is affiliated to The Royal Horticultural Society(RHS), The National Vegetable Society(NVS) and the Hampshire Federation of Horticultural Societies. One of the main aims of the Association is to help create a community spirit amongst it's membership.

Two major events held during the year are the Plant Sale in May and The Annual Show in August. The Annual Show offers the opportunity to show off the best results of your labours for all to see. There are Open classes for Vegetables, Fruit and Flowers, also for Novice growers. In addition classes for Handicrafts, Cookery and Special catagories for children, allowing the whole family to take part. Although essentially competitive it is an oppotunity to meet and socialise with other members.

The Association offers discounted gardening requirements in the quantities to suit your needs, at it's trading sheds on allotment sites across the city. The opening times are Saturday and/or Sunday mornings, as this is when most people work on their allotments. One of the sheds opens on most Monday evenings. These are manned by members in their own time.

All gardeners are welcome, membership is not restricted to allotment holders only.
